Bayonetta Video Game Review

Bayonetta is a game that will intrigue players just by its sheer sense of curiosity. It is a completely wacky game that tugs on every cord of imagination. The game revolves around a girl who must fight her way through the game in order to complete her mission. It is a game that will have you laughing and wondering at the same time, but in the end will have you love it to its core.

Bayonetta is not just a game that involves crazy scenes and unbelievable stunts and enemies; it also has a strong plot. Bayonetta herself is a witch that has been asleep for over five hundred years. She has waked from the bottom of the sea and has a memory that is a bit foggy. She can remember however, that she needs to find 'The eyes of the world` and through the help of an onlooker, discovers that she must head to a city called Vigrid to find them.

The journey begins as Bayonetta stands in front of a clock face with an army of enemies behind her. The clock face falls and crumbles off of a mountain top and slams on the ground, and that is the prelude to the rest of the game. The game drifts in and out of insanity, with crazy things happening all around her. And as insane as the game is, she fits into the role as in one scene; she stores a monster up in her hair.

The combating in the game is what sets it apart from the rest. The fighting fives you the ability to perform feats and be part of the magic of the game. You can use a powerful item concoction mode, a comprehensive scoring system with leader boards and a screen disguised as a practise mode.

Bayonetta is the ultimate fighter; she has four guns that she keeps tucked into her high heeled shoes! She uses her body to punch, kick and shoot her way through the enemies that lunge at her from every corner. She can also do special attacks and torture her enemies in the most gruesome ways. She can humiliate them and conjure up creative ways to inflict pain on them. Weapons and other items become unlocked as the game unfolds and progresses. There are also hidden items and secrets to uncover as you battle through the game.

The ability for Bayonetta to dodge attacks helps her score more points. The game takes into consideration how she avoids being targeting from enemies and credits her for those moves. As she dodges moves she can also unleash, mid combo attacks, combo attacks and she can enjoy the flexibility in her fighting and what she is able to do.

There is a nifty on screen move list to help guide you through the moves she can do while playing the game. The game is on normal difficulty and is challenging, however harder levels can be exposed as progress is made.

This game is truly a gem. Playing the role of a witch on a vengeance and on a mission to solve puzzles and learn the truth is a game that evokes curiosity and interest. It is a game where the sky is the limit and no act can look surprising, if this game doesn`t have you stoked it will at least give you shock value.

Scrapbooking Storage

By Ken Glauser

The number of people who practice scrapbooking is soaring. The roots of modern scrapbooking took place in Greece. Back in ancient times the practice of scrapbooking was called Hyponemata. The Greeks would place their thoughts feelings and ideas in a notebook. This is the first recorded instance of the practice and it appears that the Greeks were the only people in the world at that time to practice it. Fast forward to the 1400’s when Gutenberg invented the printing press and printing became realistic for the average person. This gave practically anyone who wanted to, the material to make scrapbooks. The practice of entering information to the page is also done with commonplace notebooks which are a recent concept that is very similar to scrapbooking.

Okay so now society had a method to preserve their memorabilia and legacy. The notebooks were comprised of the producer’s thoughts and ideas. Throw in some visually attractive decorations and now you have a modern day scrapbook. It isn’t an expensive activity. All that is required to do it is some papers, glue, paper trimmers, scissors, and different kinds of pens and pencils. A wide variety of products are readily available both online and in brick and mortar stores. Everything that anyone could want for decoration is able to be purchased by consumers.

Do you have a tough time organizing and locating their scrapbooking materials? Then you should check out scrapbooking storage systems. These systems will allow you to arrange your scrapbooking materials and keep them in one central location. If you don’t have a storage system, it is more than likely as your art form starts to flourish, that you will need one. Commercial concerns have recognized this need and have come out with several systems to accomplish the orderly and systematic storage of scrapbooking supplies.

An example of a good start to scrapbooking storage would be a simple box divided into several different compartments. The box can be used to store tags, labels, pens etc. It also can be tucked away in any shelf while not being used. Such boxes in various shapes and sizes are available commercially along with another alternative for storage; the pouch. There are lots of companies that produce lots of different scrapbooking storage systems. Enough so that even the most discerning buyer has lots of choices to meet their needs and preferences.

Scrapbook storage systems can also be made of cloth or light weight poly material. This variety of pouches has top-open storage that has several compartments to conveniently place your materials in. Another brand has pouches and holders that are perfect for photographs. Photos of various sizes can be put into different compartments for storage until they are needed.

Commercial concerns have produced many different styles of pouches and storage systems. There are large pouches that are perfect for things like acrylic stamps and scraps. An ideal storage system for your flat decoration materials is also available. Just such a system comes in a see-through front-zipped pouch that is perfect for storing stamps, stickers and papers. For storing your papers and scraps, there are a wide variety of scrapbooking storage systems. There are also systems manufactured that will hold all your scrapbooking materials.

For the well dressed scrapbooker, there are cute tote bags that are small and petite but still have a good capacity to hold the things you need to practice your art form. Resembling a small suitcase it has a variety of small organizers and pivoting wheels with a telescopic handle to pull it along. So from small pouches to entire studio storage systems that will hold everything, the choices are numerous and readily available from many merchants.

Men’s Titanium Rings

By Jason Tye

As a good number of men now recognize the importance of jewellery in the completion of the look they are trying to create, sales of men’s jewellery has also shot up largely as compared to the past years. Jewellery was viewed as effeminate by the society then but now it has slowly accepted that it has slowly crossed the border from largely female buyers and wearers into the male world. Largely advocating men’s jewellery are the musicians, artists, and celebrities who flaunt these jewellery as part of their status symbol. Because of the wide flaunting of these people, fans follow suit and thus the birth of the popularity of men’s jewellery.

Simple men jewellery that may appeal to someone who does not really need all the bling is men’s titanium rings. Titanium is an excellent metal because it is strong and durable that can be shaped into any form. It is also a metal that can withstand most of the outside elements that jewellery is exposed to, as compared to the other metals. Because of this property, titanium rings are perfect for men who work with their hands a lot yet want to wear men jewellery.

There are many types of men’s titanium rings in the market which gives men interested in them unlimited choices as to which ring to choose. A lot of styles of titanium rings are available for men to choose from which ranges from plain flat bands to rings with stones and inscribed designs. Many websites like Homme Rock offer these types of rings at very reasonable prices. There are many designs of titanium rings and these can even be engraved with symbols or patterns that have meaning to the wearer.

Nowadays, black titanium rings have become a trend. Since the color black is highly related to masculinity, sporting a black titanium ring is like shouting to the world of one’s individuality and style. Black titanium rings are perfect for those people who do not want to wear a gray ring. Although these are modified and colored versions of titanium, these black rings will last a lifetime if they are properly colored by the right method.

Rings made out of titanium are good alternatives to rings manufactured out of gold since it is relatively cheaper and is just as pretty. Titanium rings are also very resistant to wear and tear that, when compared to gold, at the end of a year, they will look definitely better than their gold counterparts. It is therefore no wonder that men opt to have titanium rings as their ring of choice. It is a classic piece yet fits right smack into the contemporary world as the next big hip thing in the men’s jewellery department.

If it you are part of the male population and it is your first time to venture into the so-called men’s jewellery boom, then getting a titanium ring for your first buy is definitely the best choice you can have since these rings show not only class but also style.

Earrings Make Men Of All Time A Character

By Jason Tye

A fashion statement, both for men and women is not at all hindered by borders or limitations. What women wear or use to enhance their physical beauty may now be used by men. Hence, the word “beautiful” is not an exclusive adjective for women. A man who is stylish and well-adorned may also be regarded as beautiful without being quantified or prejudged of his sexual preference. Jewelry is also tailored to cater both men and women- from watches, rings, necklaces, and earrings. In fact, jewelry is a point of interest among men and the level of such interest for jewelry is very much the same with that of women’s.

As a matter of fact, jewelry specifically earrings for men are not at all new. The trend of wearing earrings among men was indeed a hit during the eighties and is still a fashion today. Nevertheless, wearing of earrings can be traced back to the early years of human existence and even to the remotest part of the globe. Intriguingly, ear piercing even amongst men had already existed 5,000 years ago. Wearing of earrings is also an interesting part of culture or tradition of most tribesmen who lived in the past and are still in existence at present. Knowing background of earrings for men and their reasons for wearing such, is as important as knowing why men become interested with it. It is like knowing the origins and rules of basketball first before playing and winning the game.

In addition, it will even be more interesting to know that there are great men in human history whom also had their ear pierced. Some of the men who are remarkable for their outstanding achievements in history and who also had their ear pierced for earring during their time are Shakespeare, Sir Walter Raleigh, Queen Elizabeth, and Francis Drake.

Consequently, it is a mistake to regard men, who fashion earrings at present, as rebellious. Earrings at present are now accepted as part of conventional accessories not only for women but also for men because men wear earrings not because they want to defy whoever or whatever but because they just feel they like it- being fashionable yet masculine.

But before men should finally decide to wear earring, they must consider knowing the right style, size, or earrings so that they will not just be part of the fad but they will also find the right one that will not be an offbeat for their personality. Men’s earring must not be too awkward that it tends to overwhelm people who will see it. Men’s personality is usually mysterious and subtle and definitely they want to exude such impression on other people. A simple style yet emanating with strength in character is a good idea for men’s earring. This is then applicable for diamond earring for men, and the best example is a round cut diamond earring. However, square diamonds may also be a good choice because it is rarely chosen making it extra-ordinary. Other earring for men that is made not of diamond is also a good choice- examples are earrings made of metals like silver and gold, and adorned with other special gemstones aside from diamond.

Making The Best Of Fashion Through Men's Necklaces

By Jason Tye

Perhaps, all of us are familiar with the scene in a play wherein a husband would give his wife a piece of precious jewellery. Then she opens the box with much enthusiasm and excitement. The wife would then have a jaw drop as she looks into the box. She receives a black leather choker from her very loving husband with silver studs around, which looks like a dog collar. Such is just an example of a tragic-comedy story that we are often familiar with related to stories of necklaces. More stories could be related to necklaces like the emergence of its use among men. Along the years, men's accessories are not anymore confined to just neckties. Today, men are also capable of wearing necklaces as fashion accessories. You just have to be observant, and notice that many men today are fond of wearing necklaces as part of their get-up.

There are a lot of variations that we can see today. Men have beaded necklace, perhaps for the spiritually leaning man. There are chokers that we often see among men who are body builders in the gym. Likewise, there are chunky gold necklaces for men who are younger and bolder. For sophisticated men, meanwhile, we see them with the classic silver necklace that spell maturity and elegance. Whatever kind of necklace a man wears, it surely adds to the fashion get-up of a person. Also, the male race seems to get more pride out of these necklaces.

The progress and growth in the field of necklaces as fine jewellers has indeed satisfied men's interest toward jewellery. Jeweller companies like Tiffany's have actually expanded the traditional cufflink and watch collection to add a range of men's line of jewellers like pendants, necklaces, bracelets, and rings. In addition, the company has also managed to design some masculine jewellry styles in steel, titanium, and silver.

In a poll conducted in the United States, at least 75 perent of the surveyed men enjoy wearing jewellery as their accessories while 80 percent of the surveyed women stated that they find it sexy when men wear jewellery. Indeed, today's generation of males have become more conscious on their fashion statement and over-all get-up. In recent years, it seems that necklace is an accessory that would complete a man's looks.

Also, we have observed more and more male television personalities who succumb to wearing necklaces which are seen as attractive by some of the viewers.

The traditional notion that necklaces are just for women is totally gone. Because today, gender is not an issue when it comes to accessories and ornaments. What is important is that the person who wears them carry it with great confidence and pride. Most of the times, accessories and jewelleries like necklace is an added accent for a person to appear more pleasing in the eyes of the public.

We may never know the future trends that might emerge in the industry of necklaces worn by men. But one thing is for sure, necklaces play a great role in improving the posture of men.

Celtic Cross Tattoos – Let Your Skin Tell This Ancient Story

By Joel Carr

Celtic cross tattoos are the great reflection of deep belief and faith in God. If you want to convey some spiritual meaning, then the Celtic cross is the most fashionable way nowadays. Obviously the cross is the original symbol of God’s love for mankind

Many people believe that Celtic cross tattoos signify Christianity. However, the pagans have deep beliefs related with the cross symbol. For them, the cross is a symbol for fertility. It is also true that some others see the four points in the cross as representation of the four seasons, while others link them to four powerful elements that include Earth, Fire, Air and water. Celtic cross tattoos are admired by almost all tattoo enthusiasts regardless of any beliefs.

Certain groups of people thinks that Celtic cross tattoos refer to the permanence in life. They believe that the circle around the cross symbolizes life after death and they will commonly ink the designs to convey the love of God symbolizing the sheer sacrifice of the cross.

Quite often, Celtic cross tattoos include intricate knotworks that have neither beginning nor end. These knotworks are difficult to design and therefore require a talented tattoo artist. Though most of the designs are complicated with unending strands, some simple designs like single looped knots are also available. You can select either simple designs or complicated ones, but either way, the knots still look amazing.

Celtic cross tattoos complimented with a wheel or circle look awesome and many tattoo lovers choose to ink these more modern designs. The cross with wheels typically carries the most ornate symbol of Christianity. Before choosing a tattoo design, it is therefore worthwhile to choose the corresponding symbol to what you are trying to represent or express.

Celtic cross tattoos with triquetras are designed completely with knotworks. In fact, triquetras are one of the most wonderful designs in Celtic art. When combined with cross symbol, they offer fabulous looking artwork. The three points in triquetras stand for Father, son and Holy Spirit.

The most enticing feature of Celtic cross tattoos is the adaptability. You can reduce or enhance the size, allowing you to therefore wear a cross design anywhere on the body; anywhere from small ankle tattoos to full back pieces. The internet has ample amounts of Celtic cross tattoo designs. It is therefore easy to choose the perfect one as per your wish.

You can also join huge online galleries by paying a small up-front amount. This allows you to view thousands of tattoo designs, amongst these there are a considerable amount of Celtic cross tattoo designs. There are some combinational designs like cross with flowers, hearts, Jesus, Sun and moon. You can even design your own tattoo with the guidance of professionals. Be sure to check these sites out.

Generally, Celtic cross tattoos are designed in black and gray colors. Some parlors offer bright colors like red, blue, purple, violet etc to make the design awesome. It is worth to prefer a Celtic cross design in black backdrop with purple or blue color in the center, after looking at thousands of Celtic tattoo designs, the black backdrop always catches my eye.

Only a talented tattoo artist can design a Celtic Cross Tattoo, it is essential to spend some time selecting a great artist. It is also vital to assure the cleanliness in the tattoo parlor. Safety and hygiene enhances the pleasure of tattoo experience.

A History of Tapestries

By Martin Vernon

A tapestry wall-hanging in your home brings not just interior beauty but also a sense of history. European weavers have produced these textiles for centuries, including the medieval, renaissance and Arts and Crafts periods.

Tapestries have been woven for hundreds of years in diverse cultures. Both ancient Egyptians and the Incas buried their dead in tapestry woven clothing. Important civic buildings of the Greek Empire, including the Parthenon, had walls covered by them. However it was the French medieval weavers who brought the craft to fruition.

In the 13th and 14th centuries the Church recognized the value of tapestries in illustrating Bible stories to its illiterate congregations. Few of these have survived. The oldest existing set is the Apocalypse of St John, six finely woven hangings 18 foot high, totalling 471 foot in length which were woven from 1375 to 1379 in Paris. This was the centre of production until the Hundred Years War (1337 - 1453) caused the weavers to flee north via Arras to Flanders (now Belgium and northern France).

Tapestries became status symbols amongst the aristocracy in the Middle Ages. They also had much practical use, providing insulation for castle walls, covering openings and giving privacy around beds. Kings and nobles took them on their travels from castle to castle for reasons of comfort and prestige. Tapestries often changed hands after battle, and since the victor's door and window openings might be a different size the acquired hangings might be cut up or even joined to other tapestries.

Many of the best known works such as the 'Lady with the Unicorn' series were woven at the turn of the 15th century in the Loire valley. It has been estimated that 15,000 people were employed in the craft at this time. Many were itinerant and passed their skills from father to son. Their charming 'mille fleurs' scenes had backgrounds of small local flowers, perhaps inspired by the practice of strewing roadways with flowers on local fete days. At this time it would take a skilled father/son team two months to weave just one square foot of tapestry - and, remember, these were on a large scale.

Medieval weavers extracted their dyes from plants and insects in a range of less than twenty colours. For example, red came from madder, poppies or pomegranates and woad produced blue (a process that was so profitable in 16th century France that importing woad from the East was punishable by death).

The most popular medieval images were Biblical stories, myths, allegories (the ever-popular unicorn represented purity), and contemporary scenes of peasants working or nobles hunting. Battles were commissioned by victorious monarchs after the early 1500's. The Holy Roman Emperor Charles V was even accompanied into battle by his court painter who made sketches at the site for later weaving. Hunting scenes led to 'verdure' tapestries of lush landscapes which later became romanticized with increasing Italian influences.

Medieval weavers used working sketches which they freely adapted with imagination and sometimes humour. By the Renaissance these had become full-sized working drawings ('cartoons') which were rigidly copied by the weavers. Thus tapestries became mere copies of paintings rather than independent works of art. In 1515 Raphael was commissioned by the Pope to paint cartoons for the 'Acts of the Apostles' tapestries for the Sistine Chapel. His introduction of perspective and composition together with the use of finer yarns dyed in up to 300 colour shades led to the subservience of tapestry to painting for over 300 years.

In 1663, during the lavish reign of Louis XIV, Les Gobelins factory was founded in Paris employing over 800 artisans in the production of tapestries for the royal court. Other European countries followed, opening factories on behalf of their rulers. They employed Flemish weavers who by now had to complete a twelve year apprenticeship. Louis XIV's estate inventory at his death listed 2,155 Gobelins tapestries. Henry VIII's collection totalled over 2,000 in seventeen royal residences.

Rococco landscapes were popular in the 18th century typified by the designs of Francois Boucher (1703-70), director of the royal workshops at Beauvais for 30 years. His cartoons produced over 400 tapestries.

During the French Revolution the social changes of the times so decimated the tapestry market that the French Directory ordered 190 be burnt in 1797 rather than retain them for their value complete. They considered the gold and silver threads to have greater value. However a positive development of this period was the invention of the Jacquard mechanical loom in Flanders in 1804. It processed perforated cards, like pianolas or early IBM computers, which fed the coloured yarns to the shuttle. It enabled tapestries to become accessible to a wider market and it still forms the basis of the techniques used today.

By the late 1800's the Gobelins dyeworks produced a colour range of 14,000 tones. Producing tapestries with such detailing had not surprisingly become very expensive. Furthermore little creativity existed with most pieces being based on earlier designs.

Modern tapestry weaving owes much to the vigour and freedom bought by the Arts and Crafts Movement headed by William Morris in England. He revived many old crafts; tapestry weaving being one of the beneficiaries of his fresh vision and creative energy. He visited French weavers in 1878 and described the workshops at Aubusson as 'a decaying commercial industry of rubbish'. A year later he had a high-warp loom built in his bedroom where he taught himself to weave from an 18th century French craft manual. With colleagues and friends he designed tapestries, like the Woodpecker, based on medieval styles and techniques. The weavers at Morris and Co. achieved commercial success and, more importantly, revived the ailing craft.

Today few tapestries are hand-woven due to the expense of their laborious production. Les Gobelins does continue this tradition on 19th century looms, producing modern designs for prestigious French public buildings. But for us modern yarns and techniques enable us to enjoy superlative copies of works of art at affordable prices (sometimes cheaper than a framed print). Today's tapestries include reproductions of museum originals and classic works of art but they also offer a wide variety of contemporary designs. The range is broad, with something for everyone.

Learning How To Draw

By R. Schmidt

If you want to learn drawing, let me tell you: it’s not only fun, but also awakening. Luckily anybody can learn to draw. And so can you, no matter what your age or profession are.

Most probably you’ve been told: if you want to draw you just need to use your eyes. Just look properly at the subject you want to depict! What a helpful advise ... You know: It’s said much easier than done and makes it too tempting to fall back on mere copy work.

However, when copying others’ pictures you should know it’s no good way to develop your drawing skills. Instead you better prefer drawing reality. You can do your first steps easier when drawing only scenes containing simple objects and start drawing more complicated things like animals and people later. But always try to draw real scenes!

Unfortunately this is only one of a number of obstacles on your way to learning how to draw beautiful and skillfully crafted pictures. Especially when you want to become more creative read on to learn about the important stations on your way to drawing mastery

Your most important prerequisite for learning to draw isn’t some special equipment or material, but your very own motivation. Especially in the beginning you may face setbacks. Also you‘ll probably fear failure. But the more enthusiastic and motivated you are, the easier you can rush over any obstacles and move constantly along the road to success.

Another important thing is to understand your subject. The better you understand what you want to depict, the better you’ll it to paper. Once you learned to recognize and understand your subject’s dimensions and the objects that are composing the scene, reproducing them in the proper proportions, dimensions and perspective will become much easier.

Then, drawing to some extent is just “craftsmanship”. Some of the old masters even had a host of sidekicks who did all this “mechanical” work. As you want to do your drawings yourself, you need to practice these basic techniques. You need to learn how to get your lines and shapes in form, create smooth shadings, etc.

The old masters needed their sub workers, so they could focus on the creative part, the whole picture. And so you need a good foundation of these skills, to have more creativity and fun.

In one of the next parts I’ll show several exercises for practicing these basic techniques.

But what makes up a great artist beyond these basic skills? Mostly years of experience resulting in numerous concepts, small ideas and techniques all hidden in the artist’s subconscious. That’s one important reason why great artists are not automatically great art teachers. They know what to do when they are doing it, but it’s hard to explain the “why” and “how”.

Of course experience will come to you only with time, but there are tips and tricks that will be a shortcut for your drawing career (in one of the next parts).

Cartooning: How To Draw Cartoons

By Trevor Johnson

Cartoons are fun to read or watch. If you aspire to being the next Walt Disney or even just want to draw something neat to liven up your blog, here's how to learn to draw cartoons.

1. Choose your medium

Are you going for single cartoons, cartoons strips like the Peanuts or are you getting ambitious and want to produce a full scale movie? Each of these will affect how you start out. And if you are just starting out, I'd suggest that you leave the movie until later!

2. Decide on your main character

Are they human or animal? Think of the features they will have. Quite often, cartoons exaggerate certain features and almost ignore other ones. They aren't photographs, so they have much more freedom to do this.

3. Start with a sketch

If you've ever seen a storyboard for a movie, you'll know that it just shows a rough outline of what is going to happen rather than full blown detail. If you're aiming to draw a cartoon strip, it's good to plan out what will happen in each of the three or four frames that will likely make up your final cartoon.

4. Work on your main character

Don't worry about getting things perfect. It's far better to draw something than to agonize over the exact positioning of every line. Check out an early Mickey Mouse cartoon or even an early episode of the Simpsons and compare them with more modern versions. You'll see the characters have developed over the years and, in the case of that famous mouse, are almost unrecognizable when you look at the early and newer versions side by side.

5. Add expression

A cheeky grin or some raised eyebrows go a long way to giving your new creation some character. Unless your main character is supposed to be completely expressionless and unmoving, it pays to give them emotions. If they're angry or scared, you can emphasize that in the next step.

6. Add color

Assuming you are going to display your cartoon on your website or print it off on your color printer, add some color to your drawing. This gives variety for people to look at and helps to bring the cartoon to life. Again, we're not talking reality here. So that purple dinosaur like the one in the Flintstonesis fine!

7. Add shade

A few lines of shading go a long way in cartoons. Our minds will fill in the blanks, so there's no need to draw every hair on a hairy leg, just enough to give us some hints and let our imagination join the dots. This is surprisingly effective and will allow you to help your readers imaginations.

8. Add background

Like the shade, this doesn't need to be too detailed. An outline of a pyramid shape if your cartoon is visiting Egypt will do fine. There's no need to draw the complete Sphinx unless your storyline calls for it.

9. Add your caption

Cartoon characters can speak - even animals normally. Will your caption be in the form of a speech bubble or a line below the cartoon?

Tablescaping

By Adam Roth

In 2006, one of the words to be added to the new edition of the Oxford American Dictionary was the word “tablescape.” The word has been in use since 1991, but it has not come into common usage until recently. Tablescape basically means “everything you put on a table.” Although that is a simple definition, the possibilities of what a tablescape actually looks like are endless. Table-scaping is the art of decorating your table with a variety of different “tools,” in the form of tablecloths, runners, napkins, and placemats.

A tablecloth can be described as simply a covering for your table, but it is far from simple. There are many fabric choices, quality, style and shape, to choose from. The tablecloth will offer the most protection for the table, as it will usually cover the entire surface.

A table runner is similar to a tablecloth, but does not cover the whole table. Runners can be used to protect certain parts of the table while revealing the surface of the table in areas as well. For example, placing runners across the width of the table can be used as placemats on each side. A runner could also be placed down the center of the table to provide a place for other decorations so that they do not scratch the table surface.

Napkins and placemats are also available in a variety of choices. Although paper napkins and plastic placemats are good for picnics, when sitting down to dinner, a quality set of placemats and napkins can add a great deal of sophistication to your tablescape.

When it comes to tablescaping, the way you decorate your table can be as elaborate or simple as you like. The style you choose is entirely your own, which makes the possibilities endless. This could overwhelm some people, but if you approach it piece by piece, designing a tablescape can be very enjoyable. The secret is to start with a simple color theme or style design, and then stick to it. Once you decide on the main idea, the choices become much more limited, making the project less intimidating. For example, if it is the winter holiday season and you would like a snowy theme, the best colors to start with would be white, blue, and light shades of purple. With this foundation, your options become more limited and focused.

Many people may ask why go to all the effort to create a tablescape. There are two reasons for why it is worth it. First, if you have chosen a quality, beautiful piece of furniture for your table, protecting it is important. The table is a furniture piece that is used constantly, possibly many times a day. The longevity of the table is key. Protection of the finish from scratching and marring is provided by use of a table linen or runner.

The second reason for tablescaping is the need to create a peaceful and attractive place for you to enjoy your meals. Having such a place to eat meals at is much healthier for you than simply grabbing food and eating it over the counter. Research studies have show that people who sit and eat meals at a table eat more health foods, digest those foods more thoroughly, and gain the most benefit for their bodies. Eating slowly, turning off the television and other distractions, and eating with other people have been shown to help this as well.

In short, a peaceful, attractive, and pleasing tablescape can do wonders for your mind and body. It not only provides you with a healthier style of eating meals, but also offers a unique decoration to your home that you can be proud of creating.

The Meaning and Beauty of Angel Tattoos

By Danny K

When deciding what kind of tattoo to put on your body, it’s important to remember that the symbol will remain for the rest of your life. Choose something that is beautiful, represents what you believe in, and is a design you won’t be ashamed for the world to see when you’re in a bathing suit. An angel tattoo fits all of these characteristics, so it isn’t surprising that these are some of the most popular tattoos out there. On a typical day at the beach, it’s not uncommon to see a substantial number of people with some kind of angel tattoo prominently displayed.

Traditionally, angels were entirely a religious symbol. In the stories of the bible, these heavenly creatures were sent down by God to transmit messages to mere mortals on Earth. Their actions and words could be both positive and negative-they were capable of good and bad.

Some of the millions of people who sport angel tattoos today reflect something of that original biblical sentiment, but many others simply like the design. Angels have come to represent something separate from religion. As a symbol, the angel is an overwhelmingly positive life force, and many people are excited to display this measure of happiness in the form of a tattoo somewhere on the body.

Many people also get angel tattoos placed on their body to commemorate the loss of a loved one. These tattoos are sometimes accompanied by “R.I.P.”, short for rest in peace. It’s also commonplace to see initials somewhere in the vicinity of the angel tattoo. The symbolism of this kind of angel tattoo is that the loved one is looking down from heaven, protecting those he cares about from above. With all of the uncertainty in the world, who couldn’t use a guardian angel?

The majority of angel tattoos appear on female’s bodies. There’s something inherently sexy about the angel. Perhaps it’s the possibility of sin; after all, Satan was nothing more than a fallen angel. Angels, therefore, represent the possibilities of straying to the dark side.

Today, there are a large number of different forms and styles of angel tattoos. In fact, there really is no limit to what an angel tattoo can look like. While some take the definite form of an old-school seraph from the bible, others are much more abstract. The typical “traditional” angel is beautifully suffused in light, wearing a white robe, and floating majestically on top of a cloud.

Another popular version of this tattoo is the “angel tattoo wings”, splayed across the entire back of the subject. These seem to flex like wings when the shoulder muscles are contracted. This way, you can really bring your tattoo to life.

It’s up to you to decide which style best suits your personality and taste. Angels represent quite a broad spectrum, and you can use them to express an enormous breadth of opinions and sentiments. Whichever design you decide on, you’ll enjoy the benefits of having a sexy, strong symbol adorning your body.

Outside Christmas Decorations - How to Make a Christmas Light Show

By Ryan Harris

The ultimate goal of anyone who loves to decorate their yard for Christmas is to set up a full light show that includes music. These shows can be difficult to set up, but they are spectacular to see and are well worth the effort.

Here are some steps to get your started on creating your own show:

Do your Research.

Before going any further, be aware that setting up a Christmas lightshow as part of your outside Christmas decorations take a lot of time and patience. It can be a great hobby, but it’s not as easy as plugging some lights in flipping a switch. So, if you are ready, keep reading.

You are going to need a few items to make this work:

1. A computer to do the programming.

2. A light controller with multiple channels. This is what controls the lights.

3. A software program to program the light controller. This will define when the lights turn on and off in relation to the music.

4. An FM transmitter to broadcast your music. Another option is a pair of speakers on your front porch, but it is unlikely that the neighbors appreciate the same song playing over and over again.

5. The lights! For a complete effect, this should include not just regular lights, but icicle lights, net lights and yard displays.

Organize and Plan.

Now you are getting down to the fun part. To make the show work, you will need to sit down with pencil and paper and design your system. Decide what music you want to play (preferably something that has to do with Christmas), and where the decorations will be. Your plan should include a drawing of your front yard, with sketches and notes on how the show will work.

Buy Your Equipment and Decorations

Now that you have your plan, you are ready to buy your decorations. This can get expensive fast, so do some research to make sure you aren’t overpaying. I suggest going through the internet for the software and control box for the lights. A search in Google or Yahoo should yield several results and allow you to compare several options.

Test, Test, and Test!

It’s important enough to say again: Test, Test, and Test! The first thing you should do is set up your controller for a single set of lights and make sure you can get it to turn on and off. Then get it to turn on and off to music. Then add a second set of lights and make sure you can get that one to turn on and off. See why this takes so long? It can be tedious, but the results are well worth it.

Set It All Up

After everything is programmed, it’s just a matter of setting it up. Hang the lights, set up the displays, and plug it in.

Now, all you have left to do is sip hot cocoa and watch your neighbors scramble to get their decorations looking half as good as yours!

Good Luck and Merry Christmas!

Learn To Draw Cartoons Quickly And Easily

By Trevor Johnson

The art of drawing is one of the oldest in the world. Think of the extraordinary prehistoric paintings discovered in the Cave of Altamira and you won't need any more examples. Drawing is still among the most popular hobbies nowadays because it is not only inexpensive (anyone can grab a piece of paper and express his or her feelings by handling a simple tool like a pencil on its surface) but also challenging. When you start drawing you don't always know what the final result will be like.

In the past few decades, cartoon characters have been number one among children's attractions and many of our children, particularly fond of one character or another, have tried to copy them, recreate them on paper to keep these colorful idols closer to their hearts. Of course, not all these 'kindergarten fans' turn into famous cartoonists, but many such artists started their career in front of the TV screen and most of their 'creations' probably looked like monsters for some time.

Cartoon characters are sometimes more vivid than real ones in a film, thanks to technology which has been given such a tremendous boost in recent years. However, all this cartoon industry began with a pencil and a piece of paper plus inspiration and hard work. Though it may look simple to those who have never tried it, drawing cartoons is not a joke. You need a lot of talent to make a character come to life with some lines, circles and curves. Shades play an important part in this and so does the colour choice.

Life without a computer is inconceivable nowadays. This intelligent 'tool' has taken over most fields of activity including drawing. The simple paper and pencil tandem has been replaced by the graphics tablet and stylus, not to mention the fantastic software that allows you to modify your work in myriad ways. However, this is only a means of materialising your ideas and saving your work more easily and accurately; the basic rules of drawing are still the same.

Programs like Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Quark Xpress and many more are used by designers to perfect their ideas and make their work easier. It takes some time to become an expert, but with a little patience and basic knowledge of the software, anyone can do it. For novices, Adobe Photoshop is the perfect choice. Children use it successfully and so does the film making industry. There is nothing you cannot do with Adobe Photoshop, what you need is good knowledge of its options – the rest is piece of cake.

There are many cartoon makers you can use to create funny characters, personalized cartoons of your friends or add a sketch effect to a cartoon photo; some of them are free. It is very easy. You only have to load a high-resolution photo and your caricature is just a click away. Such programs are widely used to create greeting cards, several types of announcements and of course to illustrate books and newspapers. Caricatures look great on T-shirts, mugs and other kinds of gifts; many people use them to improve the appearance of their websites and make them unique.

People no longer have to wait for one night out of the year to have fun and dress in costumes! Costume parties are held all year long for different occasions. Some people are even having weddings that require guests to come dressed in costumes! If you are looking for great costume ideas for either Halloween or a costume party, you can have the edge over other people and get your costume noticed. If you want the costume that stands out over every other costume, consider using costume contact lenses for your eyes!

Sometimes, the small details are what make a difference. Using costume contact lenses can be the one thing that changes how you look when you dress in any type of costume. If you’ve never heard about costume or specialized contact lenses, do a quick search on the internet and you might be surprised to discover the amazing and even frightening options you can have for your costume!

One of the classic costumes can become completely original for you when you add the right contact lenses. If you are considering dressing up as a classic vampire, complete your costume with vampire contact lenses. Vampire contact lenses come in many different color options, but most of them consist of shocking colors to really get your audience’s attention! Blood red irises with black pupils are very popular, but you may also find contact lenses with white, icy blue, orange or yellow irises with black pupils. Some people have discovered that they get the most reaction from wearing completely black contact lenses when dressing as vampires for a realistic “living dead” look! Even if you are one of a dozen or so vampires in one location, the right contact lenses can make all the difference in making your vampire costume stand out.

Many costumes people choose to wear for various occasions can be sexy or provocative. You can add the perfect contact lenses to truly accentuate and distinguish your costume from other people who have dressed along the same lines. Many sexy costumes include witches, angels, French maids, nurses, fairies and many more original and fun characters. Baby blue contacts with navy blue outer rings make eyes sensuous and very noticeable. Pink is also a color sure to stand out. Although less immediately noticeable, violet makes quite an impact when used with sexy, similar colors.

Cat eye contact lenses are very unique and draw all kinds of attention! Many times you can also get animal patterns like zebra or cheetah spots. If you are thinking of dressing as your favorite sport’s icon, consider getting costume contact lenses that correlate with the sport. You can get soccer ball, basketball and even football contact lenses!

You aren’t limited to the costume contact lens ideas above. You can get glow in the dark contact lenses, pure white contact lenses, patriotic contact lenses and so much more. You have just about as many options for costume contact lenses as you have for costume ideas!

When you consider using costume contact lenses, it is easy to go on the internet and order a pair. Consider going through an eye doctor even if you don’t need a prescription for your lenses. The right fit can make for a much more comfortable wearing experience and it can also limit the chance of infection in the eye.

Part of the fun involved in wearing a costume is choosing what costume you are going to wear and what accessories you will use to make it extra special. To make your costume really stand out, you might want to consider wearing special costume contact lenses.

Beginning In Photography: White Balance

Ever wonder why some photos have a yellow or blue color cast? Why did this happen? Well it has to do with how your camera sees colors in a scene. Correct white balance is one of those technical aspects of photography that is often overlooked or misunderstood. But it can have a great impact on your photos, so it is important to understand how color in photography works.

What is White Balance?

Color is measured in temperature, in units of Kelvin. Warm colors have a low degrees Kelvin, while cooler temperatures have a higher degrees Kelvin. For example, the flame of a candle has a Kelvin temperature of around 1,500, while a blue sky has a Kelvin temperature of around 9,000. The human eye is very good
at adjusting for variation in color temperature. Unless the temperature of the light is very extreme a white wall will generally look white. But a camera doesn't have a human brain behind it (yet, anyway!) and so isn't able to make the same adjustments. The result of this is a color cast that either looks too "cold" or too "warm".

Adjusting White Balance

The purpose of adjusting white balance is to tell your camera to either warm things up or cool things down, depending on the lighting situation. So how do we do this? Most Digital cameras have automatic and semi automatic settings. Most commonly these are:

Automatic: where your camera takes a guess at the correct white balance. In most conditions this is pretty accurate, however in tricky lighting situations it is easily fooled.

Tungsten: used for shooting under tungsten (artificial) lighting such as an indoor bulb. As this type of lighting is quite warm, the setting cools down the colors slightly.

Daylight: used for shooting outside. Colors under a sky can appear quite blue so this setting is used to warm up a scene.

Different makes of cameras also have more variations on these settings, such as for cloudy conditions and flash photography.

Manually Adjusting White Balance

In most cases, using the automatic or semi automatic settings on your camera will produce good results. But if it's just not doing it for you, or like me you are a complete control freak, most digital cameras will allow you to manually set the white balance.

This can be done in two ways. Some cameras have a setting that will allow you to set the white balance in degrees Kelvin. To do this of course you will need to know the temperature of your light source. This is easy to find out with a few test shots. For example, if you are shooting indoors under a standard house globe, you know that the temperature of the light will be quite low. Adjust your setting to a low number and take a test shot. Then check and make adjustments as needed until the color in your images looks right.

The second method is the tried and true grey card. By holding a neutral color in front of your lens, you are essentially telling the camera what white looks like. It then adjusts all other colors accordingly. To do this you need to have your white balance setting on manual.

With all the automatic settings that digital cameras have to supposedly make our lives easier, it is easy to be lazy and let the camera do all the work. However putting in a little extra effort into learning why things work the way they do gives you the edge next time you are dealing with a tricky lighting situation and helps you improve your photography.

As a professional photographer in a variety of venues you are in the business to make money. You are fortunate enough to be able to combine a passion for photography, your art, with a decent living and you may even be able to do so on a full-time basis. Fantastic! If that is the case there are several different venues you might be using to maintain your living: family and wedding portraits, school and graduation pictures, freelancing for magazines and newspapers, downloading images for sale onto the World Wide Web, downloading onto ezines and many more.

Have you considered working with digital photography on canvas?

You may not have an interest in this profession for a full-time commitment but even as a sideline this type of work generates a significant income. It also makes for an impressive, professional resume. When your quality of work is exemplary it is easy to generate repeat business since satisfied customers not only return for more of your art, they also tend to recommend you personally to their friends. In other words, a beautiful photograph on canvas tends to result in good old-fashioned word of mouth networking and is almost guaranteed to assist you in finding customers.

Make sure however that you make use of the internet in its entirety in order to advertise your unique services. Email marketing, sales pages, a website and well-written ad copy are a must for online marketing. Although time-consuming, the financial conversions will we well worth it in the end.

Another reason to invest in the equipment and training for working with canvas is in the sheer joy of producing something so beautiful. You will be stunned by the results you yourself produce in your home or office when creating canvas photography. One thing you might take into consideration before you dive head long in to the expense and learning curve that comes with printing on canvas in house is outsourcing to start with. this can be very profitable as there are companies out there that can put your photos on canvas for inexpensive with fast turnaround times. They are often willing to drop ship too.

However that doesn’t mean that your work will automatically be accepted without negative criticism or even skepticism from the public. Ignore it. Always throughout the ages when a nouveau art media is introduced into a society, wherever in the world it might be, novel works are bound to be received with both praise and derision. As a professional photographer, you have already received much critical feedback in regard to your work. You always put forth your best personal and professional effort and yet in spite of that there are times when clients aren’t satisfied. The same is true of photography on canvas. Critics will love it or they will hate it but you can expect a response of some sort with this fresh approach to art media.

Most significantly, when you stand back and take a look at the results of your labor, you will be highly satisfied and will rest assured that you are giving people more than their money’s worth. And that is probably the best reason for creating photography on canvas of all.

It seems a simple concept: make sure the thing you’re taking a photo of is sharp. But there is much more to the simple act of focusing on your subject. Used selectively, focus is a great tool for getting your message across within an image.

Story telling

Whether you are taking snaps of your kids at the beach, or on a professional assignment photographing African tribes for a magazine, you are telling a story with your photos. Knowing what the story is before you start shooting helps you choose what to photograph and how. For example, if you want to tell the story about your kid’s day at the beach you might choose to focus on the smiles on their faces, the sandcastles they build, or the ice creams they manage to get all over their faces. Or you might decide to tell the story of the beach itself. The white sands, the beach huts nearby or the boats on the water. In either case you will come away with very different images. Remember the saying “think before you speak”? Well this is the visual equivalent.

Focal length

Ok, so we’ve decided on what story to tell. But what does this have to do with focusing? It’s about taking your story and making it stand out from all that is going on around it. Let’s say that you have decided to make a record of your kids first day at the beach and there are lots of opportunities for close ups of smiling faces. The way to make those faces stand out from the background is to use a short focal length, or wide aperture. Focusing on your child’s face and using a short focal length will blur the background, making your child and their joy the story. An example of long focal lengths in story telling is if you have decided your intention is to show the beach itself and the area surrounding, you might use a long focal length to describe the length of the beach, or how busy the beach was by showing acres of people sunning themselves on the sand. In short, a shorter focal length is most useful for a single narrative while a longer focal length lends well to telling a broader story, or giving a wider picture.

Avoiding confusion

Knowing what you want to say before you say it, or thinking before you speak, avoids jumbling your words. Similarly, knowing what your story is before you start taking pictures also avoids confusion. Having intention in your images leaves the viewer in no doubt over what the photo is actually of. Ever seen those pictures people take of their day at the beach where there was so much going on in a photo that you couldn’t tell what it was about? Then they point out that it is actually a picture of their child whose head you could just see in the bottom right hand corner. This is what I call a confusing photograph, and is to be avoided at all costs. Keep it simple. If you want to take a photo of your child, make them prominent in the shot and make them stand out using focal length.
