Finding Specialized Mountain Bike

By James Gunaseelan

Many times people participating in specific disciplines of cycling will buy a specialized mountain bike, designed for the discipline. While cross-country, enduro and freerider are the most common disciplines for mountain biking, over the years variations have arisen given greater need for a more specialized mountain bike to meet the demands of the cyclist. To help meet the specialized needs, various suspensions are used to help the rider maintain control throughout the course on which they are riding.

Typically, mountain bikes have wider tires with typical 26-inch wheels. Although on some of the more specialized mountain bikes, a 29-inch tire is used to help achieve better speed. Suspension from fully rigid, on which no suspension is used, to hardtail suspension which may of some give in on the front form, but nothing in the back and softtail which uses no additional suspension methods except for additional flex in the frame. There are also bikes with full suspension, which have a softer ride with suspension in the front and back, along with flexibility built into the frame.

Cross-country mountain bikes typically have lighter frames and while they may have full suspension, it is typically pneumatic on the front and rear to save on weight. The idea behind a specialized mountain bike for cross-country is more for its ability to climb hills and mountains than in an aggressive approach to downhill racing. Due to their lightweight construction, a specialized mountain bike for cross-country will not usually stand up to jumping and other rides on harder trails.

Freerider bikes care less about weight than suspension as many times riders use a lift available at a ski resort during the off season or walk their bikes up a mountain before beginning a rapid descent. With this specialized mountain bike typically having full suspension they can take on the many jumps associated with this discipline of mountain biking. Some of the strongest specialized mountain bike seen is used for urban and street riding and dirt jumping. Usually they have several inches of front end suspension and none on the back end and tires are typically slicker 24-inch and 26-inch diameter. Many riders will have up to nine gears on this type of bike while others will choose none. Other types of discipline involve single speed specialized mountain bike riding along with downhill, mountain cross and trials. Bikes used in trial are either stock or modified and are the lightest of the specialized mountain bikes, weighting between 15 and 25 pounds for better maneuverability.

How to Save Money on High Current Oil Prices

By Lewis Hopewell

The recent surge in current oil prices has led consumers to embark on a search for the various methods to achieve greater fuel economy in their vehicles. While there is close to nothing the average the average consumer can do to reduce current oil prices, there are in fact many measures he can adopt to save spending on fuel. This article teaches you how to save money on high current oil prices.

First of all, it is important for you to minimize the usage of your car. Most car owners drive wherever they go, even to the mart that is located within walking distances of their homes. Instead of driving, adopt alternative modes of transportation such as walking or cycling. Such methods are free and provide the added advantage of allowing you to get some exercise in addition to saving fuel. Over the long run, you would find yourself enjoying substantial savings by using such methods of travel.

If you need to travel long distances each day, you would find it extremely economical to form a car pooling network with people who are travelling to the vicinity of your destination. Car pooling provides one of the most effective ways through which consumers are able to both enjoy the benefits of car travel while not putting too much a strain on their pockets. Usually, the maintenance and fuel cost is split from amongst the individuals that make up the car pool. The result is substantially lower costs for all concerned parties.

It would also be a good idea to perform regular checks on your car. A poorly maintained vehicle is known to consume much more fuel as compared to a well-maintained one. Of particular importance would be the vehicle’s filters and tires. Dirty and poorly maintained filters are known to increase fuel usage by as much as 25%. Change these when necessary. Also make sure that your tires have the right amount of air as you could save as much as 30% of fuel consumption with tires that are sufficiently inflated.

Lastly, shop around for the best fuel prices near you. It would not be a good idea for anyone to be overpaying for fuel given the already high prices of oil in the market today. A helpful tool to help you with this search would be http://www.gasbuddy.com which provides a guide to gas prices in the United States and Canada. Simply indicate your location and a price list of the various grades of fuel offered by gas stations in your vicinity would be presented instantly to you. You would then be able to locate the cheapest source of fuel in your vicinity the next time you require a fuel top up for your vehicle.

There are many methods one can take to save money on fuel given the current high oil prices. While the average consumer has no ability to effect a change in global oil prices, he has the ability to adopt measures which would allow him to lower his vehicle’s fuel consumption. This would in turn allow him to be able to achieve greater savings.

Can A Body Kit Pimp Your Ride?

By Christopher Smith

If you are tired of the plain appearance of your car, and you want to add a little spice, then you should consider improving it by installing a body kit for your car. Although body kits can be expensive, it will not only enhance the appearance of your car, but it will also enhance its performance. Body kits are mainly used in race cars to improve the air flow and give better aerodynamics to the car. It also gives more down force to the car which means that the faster the car goes the more down force there will be in the car, helping it stay on the road. It is like pushing the car down on the road to prevent it from skidding or from getting out of control.

As you can see, body kits are not only visual enhancers for the car, they can save you a lot of money. If you are only after that race car look, then you don't actually have to purchase a new sports car. Even your regular four-door or two-door sedan can be enhanced to have the look of a sports car.

You have to consider that tuner cars are popular today. There are many car owners out there who want to have a unique car. And, one of the first things that car owners do to improve the looks of their car is by installing body kits.

Most body kits include front bumpers, side skirts, rear bumpers, spoilers, roof scoops, and wings. There are also many that will include customized fenders, hoods, mags, windows, and even side mirrors. Doors can also be customized as well and be part of a kit. If you want a door that has a scissor type door where it opens upwards, then you can get a scissor door body kit.

Thanks to Hollywood films depicting street racing, the market for body kits has increased. If you ever watched the films like The Fast and the Furious and its sequels 2 Fast 2 Furious, and The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, you have an idea on how cool your car would look like if you install one on your car.

You can even have it customized and take it to the next level by getting it custom painted and add some vinyl for an additional racy look. Always remember that body kits will not entirely improve the performance of your car. What it will do is improve your car's appearance and increase the aerodynamics of your car. If you want a faster car, you have to get a bigger engine and other performance enhancers for it, such as cross drilled disk brakes, nitro, better transmission, a racing gear box and others.

You have to consider that Asian cars are much cheaper than its European counterpart where it is flashy and stylish. However, you don't have to get stuck in a regular looking car. By installing a body kit, you will be able to have a great looking car and a car that will look sleek and stylish that you can drive on the streets. Always remember that just because you have a good looking car means that you can drive like a racer. Safety first for those in your street racer, and for those outside enjoying your ride.

How to Get Low Rate Car Insurance

By Michael Hunter

It is always a great experience to purchase a new car. The thrill of driving it home for the first time is overwhelming. However, once you get it home it is time to start thinking about how you are going to protect it. You may think it is hard to find a low rate car insurance policy that provides you with the right protection, but it is not, and this article is going to tell you how.

Below are the factors that are going to affect how much your auto insurance will go up or down.

1. Your past record is the first thing that will affect you. The insurance companies look into your past driving to see how many traffic violations and accidents you have been involved in. You will be able to get a discounted car insurance rate if you have a low number of traffic violations and accidents.

2. Unfortunately, your age and gender are a factor in the cost of car insurance. The insurance company takes a look at how likely the person is to get involved in an accident. Those drivers that have experience will pay less for car insurance than those who are just starting to drive and women will pay less than men.

3. Although it does not involve your driving in anyway, your credit history will be checked by insurance companies. If you have a clean credit history then you will be able to bargain for a low cost car insurance. However, if you are a person with poor credit history you will be hurt when it comes to getting a good deal on your insurance.

4. One of the best things that you can do to get a discount on your insurance is to take a defensive driving course. Most insurance companies offer a discount for those who have completed a driving course because it shows that you are looking to be a safe driver on the road which will help prevent accidents.

5. The best way for your car to become eligible for a discount is if it has been installed with a anti-theft device. If your car has an alarm installed in it you are less likely to have your car stolen. Also, if your car has safety features such as anti-lock brakes and airbags you are likely to get cheaper insurance.

6. If you insure multiple cars under the same plan you can get a multi-car discount. It is not uncommon that you can insure two cars for the price of one under a multi-car plan. It is important that you ask the insurance company if they offer this type of discount because not all the companies do.

These are just some of the many things that you can do to get a low rate car insurance plan. Some of these variables are out of your control and some are easy enough to do that it is a wonder why most people do not take advantage of them. No matter what the case, you can be on your way to saving big money by following this article.

Reasons to Get Automobile Insurance

By Michael Hunter

If you are having money problems, driving without car insurance can seem like a good idea to save a little money. However, this is an extremely bad idea because you are only a moment away from an accident. This article is going to tell you why you should never drive without automobile insurance.

The point of car insurance, like all other insurance, is to hope you never have to use it; but, you are prepared and have it in case something was to happen. The worst thing that can happen is getting into an accident and not having insurance, so do not try and save money by cutting car insurance.

If you do not have car insurance and are wondering if you should get it; or, if you are just wondering why you should have car insurance before driving, here are some of the top reasons:

1. If you are involved in an accident and neither you nor the other driver has car insurance, and you require medical care, you will not be covered by any form of personal liability insurance. Personal liability insurance comes with auto insurance packages, and you will lose a lot of money, more so than if you bought auto insurance, trying to pay your medical bills.

2. If you cause an accident and you have no insurance you are leaving the victim in a tight spot. If an accident is your fault than your insurance company is suppose to pay the other drivers company, who in return would pay that driver. However, by not having insurance, you will probably have to pay to fix that persons car with your own money.

3. If your car was either stolen or you got in an accident and had to try and pay the cost of either fixing it or replacing it, you could be looking at no transportation for a long time. If you are trying to save money by not paying for car insurance, you are probably not going to be able to fix or replace a car anytime in the near future. This will hinder your ability to get to work or go places period which will lose you money.

4. You may think that you are not breaking any laws, but you are. If you are driving without car insurance you are driving illegally, which is against the law. Also, if you are caught without car insurance you can loose your license.

5. If you are caught driving without insurance you will be moved to the high risk category for car insurance. This will raise how much your car insurance premium will be when you go to get car insurance, which is a bad thing.

From potentially spending more money than you are saving to breaking the law, there are many reasons for you to get car insurance. There is no good reason for you to drive without automobile insurance and you should never leave the driveway without insurance. Hopefully after reading this article you understand the importance of car insurance and you will be on your way to finding a good auto insurance quote.

A Car Bore’s Guide To A Used Ford Mondeo

By Kevin Creese

Go to any car dealership and you can be certain you’ll come across a used Ford Mondeo - it is a fact as inevitable as the world being round or water being wet. Supplies of Ford cars are plentiful - used Ford especially so - with competitive pricing and popular styling just two features of a car company making arguably the best cars it ever has done.

There are two histories the used Ford Mondeo sitting on the forecourt could have in its logbook. The first history would reveal a mid-thirty something salesman with many motorway journeys under his belt (and many corporate lunches too no doubt). His suit jacket having been lovingly hung up in the back as it accompanied him on his travels and sales pitter patter. The second life the car could’ve had would be the all purpose, all conquering family pet. Muddy football boots, furniture from Ikea and mountains of glitter from a night out would all have come into contact with the Mondeo.

Whether the car comes with life history 1 or history 2, it doesn’t matter. Either way the car would’ve faithfully carried out it’s duties and has only appeared on the forecourt because either: a) salesman didn’t sell enough and was sacked, b) salesman sold lots and was given a new Mondeo, c) family had another child and bought a people carrier. A good buy on all accounts then, but before you decide on which colour to go for, let me fill you in on the birth of the Mondeo and how it made Ford’s accountants’ life expectancies rise dramatically.

Replacing an institution is tough. Whether you’re singing Freddie Mercury’s parts for Queen, acting James Bond in the latest film, or playing rugby instead of an injured Johnny Wilkinson for England, you’ll be more closely scrutinized than the original. And so was the case with the Mondeo. Entering the showrooms in 1993, the new car replaced the much-loved granddaddy, the Ford Sierra. Despite its global market, the European arm of Ford was hemorrhaging money and had developed the unenviable reputation of making cars the accountants wanted. This resulted in poorly built vehicles that were as interesting to look at as a Monet in a cardboard box.

Things started promisingly (not for the accountants mind) as the Mondeo shared very little in the way of parts or design with its appalling 90’s predecessors the Escort and Orion - resulting in high development costs. Top pub quiz fact: it was the first car to have a drivers’ airbag across the entire range. This forward thinking from Ford meant it topped many safety test standings and appealed to companies not wishing to give their staff death traps and of course families. Sales rocketed and it was named European Car of the Year in 1994.

One criticism was that the styling was still more cardboard box than Monet. A facelift in 1996 addressed this to such a degree, that only the doors and roof remained the same as the Mk I model. The corporate Ford oval was incorporated into the front grill giving the car a more curvy and playful look. Still no Monet but the palette was starting to take shape. The facelift was as well-received as Jackie Collins’ and this helped boost sales further although the additional outlay from Ford did mean specification levels dropped, meaning wheel trims were back and alloy wheels were consigned to the optional extras order form.

Over the next four years, with Ford’s European fortunes taking a drastic u-turn for the better and as the new space-edge Ka and Focus models were being launched, the Mondeo was suddenly in need of another shot of botox. As the new millennium dawned, so did the Mk III Mondeo – the car that more than likely stands before you at the used Ford dealership. Although it was in the same design club as the Ka and Focus, it wasn’t considered part of the ‘New Edge’ Ford design and therefore sat in the corner of the club looking restrained. A more expensive, Volkswagen Passat inspired interior is the stand-out feature, which looks expensive because it is.

Combined with further safety enhancements including the excitingly titled ‘Intelligent Protection System’ (IPS) which was a system that basically decided for you which life-saving features to use in the event of a crash. It was the most popular large family car for its entire 2000 – 2007 life-cycle. It is too early to comment on the latest Mk IV model, although it did find its way into the latest Bond film ‘Casino Royale’ for a brief scene, before being swiftly replaced by Bond’s orginal Aston Martin DB5 (what did I say about following an institution?)

To summarise, the Mondeo may be the most popular vehicle of its class and therefore buying one will result in you being as unique as a Manchester United supporter, but it has sold in it’s droves for a mutlitude of good reasons. The choice as they say, is yours.

Easy Steps To Getting A Great Deal On Your Next Car

By Kevin Maher

We all dread walking onto that car lot and being approached by a salesman that we just know is going to try to pressure us into buying today and spending more than we want to spend. It doesn’t have to be that way. With just a little preparation, you can make sure that you get a great value and protect your investment

Don’t fall in love with having a brand new car. The newer the car, the worse it depreciates, with the first year being the very worst. By finding a used car that is still under factory warranty, maybe two or three years old, you will avoid the worst of the depreciation and you can usually buy a relatively inexpensive extended warranty that will cover everything that the factory warranty covers.

Look for a warranty that has a small list of excluded repairs rather than a big list of items that are covered. In the warranty book that originally comes with a car, you will see a warranty that essentially says that everything except certain normal wear and tear items (alternators, tires, batteries, light bulbs, etc) is covered. You want to look for similar wording on your extended warranty. A long list of covered items is always much shorter than the list of things that can actually break. If the warranty company is able to claim that a covered item broke because of the failure of a non-covered item, they will deny the claim.

Be sure any warranty is transferable because that will make a big difference in resale value and desirability when it comes time to sell.

Once you have decided on a make and model, decide how much you are willing to spend on it buy researching the value with NADA at www.nadaguides.com or Kelley Blue Book at www.kbb.com. Try to pay somewhere between trade value and retail value at a dealer. Mileage makes a difference, so be sure to know what effect low or high mileage has on the value.

Have your financing arranged in advance. Credit Unions frequently have very good rates. You can also find some lenders for your area and their published rates by visiting www.bankrate.com. If your lender offers extended warranties, be sure to get the pricing and factor that into your payment.

Don’t tell the dealer that you are paying cash. Let them believe they will be doing the financing because they make more money when they arrange your loan. The old idea of getting a better deal with cash simply does not apply any more. The salesman may get excited about your cash, primarily because he’s paid to be excited about anything you say, but the person making the decisions only sees the bottom line. If he believes the finance department can recover some of the lost profit on the sale price, he’ll be more willing to sell the car for less.

After you have agreed on a price, it will be time to sit with the finance manager and, if he doesn’t give you a better interest rate than you found on your own, hand him your bank check or draft. Be sure to get his price on the warranty.

Even if he beats your bank’s rate, a higher priced warranty could outweigh the savings in interest. The simple test is to compare payments over an equivalent number of months. The total that comes out of your pocket is really all that matters.

Don’t be afraid to walk on a deal. By doing your research, you will know if you are getting a bargain. If a dealer paid too much for a car it’s not your problem and you shouldn’t be penalized. You can find another car. The value of the car in two years will have nothing to do with the amount you spend on it today so why lose more than you have to?

Used Ford Puma – Faster Than A Speeding Bullitt?

By Kevin Creese

I always wonder just how frustrated Vincent Van Gogh must be. I mean he went though life a pauper, with none of his brushwork garnering any interest whatsoever and decided that the best way forward was to do a Doubting Thomas job on his ear and then end it all. Fast forward a few years (well and a few more) and his art is renowned and has stupid price tags attached to it left, right and centre.

He’s not the first person to become more famous post-humorously either: Tupac Shakur, James Dean, Jeff Buckley and Kurt Cobain have become idolised even more so than when their hearts were whizzing along. In recent years there’s been an influx in using dead famous celebrities in the world of advertising which leaves me a tad uneasy. The most recent I’ve noticed is Bob Monkhouse grinning down on the streets below saying that all us blokes should check our prostates or run the risk of ending up in an early wooden box like him. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a noble cause and Mr Monkhouse’s family want to warn the rest of us but I still find it a tad weird.

What I didn’t find weird however was Steve McQueen ripping up the tarmac on the San Francisco streets in a used Ford Puma. Ok, well it wasn’t a used Ford in 1997, but the 11 year old advert has remained lodged in my brain ever since. To those who aren’t familiar with the advert or Steve McQueen’s film career a quick recap. McQueen starred in the 1968 car chase movie Bullitt where he played a detective that did some police stuff before capping the film off with the epic and now legendary car chase through San Fran. Ford ingeniously used footage from the film and spliced it with the Puma charging around a modern day San Francisco like a child that’s had too many sweets.

In one fell swoop Ford announced that the Puma was a real driver’s car. After all if the ghost of Steve McQueen found it enjoyable then wouldn’t we all? Well yes actually, the Puma was a hit and when the popular coupe was put to bed in 2002 it was sorely missed. Thankfully a used Ford Puma is relatively easy to come by and you can pick up an early example from as little as £1500, up to £4000 for a 2002 version.

Despite being built on a Fiesta chassis the Puma handles really rather well and coupled with a high revving engine developed in conjunction with Yamaha, it’s quite a nippy car. Engine choices were initially restricted to a 1.7 litre unit producing 123bhp. Later models were also offered with a 1.4 litre engine which despite only developing 89bhp doesn’t seem sluggish, before Ford settled on a slightly more powerful 1.6 litre engine in 2000.

The styling was radical at the time, with the Puma being one of Ford’s first ‘New edge’ look vehicles. The best way to describe the Puma is like a cuddly bubble, although if you’re a male driving it you won’t look ridiculous. Even 11 years on it competes well with the current crop of coupes and a good example will just keep on running for years to come.

Inside the Puma offers good head and legroom for a car its size. It also has sports seats which are vital in keeping you glued to behind the steering wheel as the Puma can be thrown around corners like cars twice its original price.

Oddly buying a low mileage example may not be your best bet. The Puma has special cylinder linings on its 1.7 litre Zetec engine meaning that wear is high if incorrect oil is used. Likewise if the car has been used for short journeys on a cold engine, wear will be dramatically accelerated. So avoid cars that have stood still on a driveway and ensure regular oil changes have been made – no more than 10,000 miles between each. Other than the above, as with all used Fords, the Puma is cheap to repair and service and any minor niggles shouldn’t cause an expensive headache.

Finally for your consideration, there is the ultra exclusive Racing Edition that was limited to 500 cars. This version came complete with 154bhp, a wide arch body kit and huge alloy wheels. Expect to pay nearer £6000 for an eight-year old version but be warned if you find one in good condition Steve McQueen may very well come and haunt you for the keys.

The Simple Joys of Matchbox Cars

By Kadence Buchanan

Their Start

The year was 1953, and the British toy company Lesney Products came out with the first so-called Matchbox car. It was then that they saw one of their biggest sales - a model of the Queen's Coronation Coach. This led the company to begin producing other scaled down versions of different vehicles - cars, dump trucks, cement mixers, and more. It was always important that they meet that special size requirement - that they fit in a matchbox. Thus, the brand was born. Those early models were (quite naturally) all British vehicles, and they quite primitive - no interiors, doors didn't open, and they were generally a solid piece of metal.

Their Growth

By the late 60's, the Matchbox cars had truly entered their Golden Era. Now there were many more models, and they were becoming quite articulate - doors that opened, and so on. This is also when they expanded their lines to include the Models of Yesteryear - renditions of vehicles from long ago. Also, accessories were added - petrol/gas pumps, garages, and so on.

The Trials of Competition

Of course, success breeds imitation. The American firm Mattell came out with their Hot Wheels line, and quickly took over the U.S. market. Well, Matchbox was not about to take that lying down. They responded with the creation of their Superfast line, these were new, sleeker cars; and the addition of other lines. Soon there were Matchbox planes, trains, and ships. Their success led to still new lines - Battle Kings (military models), Sea Kings (different ships), the Adventure 2000 science fiction line, and the Two Pack series. However, these lines proved less than completely successful; only the Two Pack and Sky Busters (airplanes) continued for any length of time.

Death, and Re-Birth

The 1970s saw tough times for Matchbox, and other British toy manufacturers. Eventually, Lesney was forced to declare bankruptcy in June of 1982. The Matchbox brand then sort of drifted for a time, moving from company to company until - almost exactly ten years later - Tyco Toys bought it in May of 1992. Then, in a truly ironic twist, Mattel acquired Matchbox in 1997. To say that loyal Matchbox fans/collectors were concerned would be an understatement. After all, the Hot Wheels / Matchbox rivalry had been raging for years. Would Mattel simply kill the line, revamp it to be like the Hot Wheels or stay true to its roots?

Initially, Mattel did revamp the Matchbox cars. In 2003, they brought out the Ultra Heroes line, which was a complete disaster! They were discontinued a year later, and the company decided to try another tact. A new team, dedicated to preserving the classic style of the cars, began producing realistic looking models with a high degree of details. The one major change from the classic Matchbox cars was that these were based largely on American vehicles. Today, the line has grown to nearly one hundred models, and they show no signs of fading away. Children - both boys and girls - continue to enjoy playing with them; and there are more than a few adults who also take pleasure in collecting them.

How to Get a Low Auto Insurance Quote

By Michael Hunter

With the economy being how it is, everyone is looking to save money. The best way to save money on your car insurance is to get auto insurance quotes to find the best deals. The items listed below are some things that can help you get the best quote to save you the most money.

1. The first thing that you need to do is go around to a couple of companies and get quotes from each of them. The price of your quote will vary depending on which company you choose.

You should also try and get a quote from the various types of insurance companies. Some companies sell through their own agents that work for them, some sell through independent agents that sell policies from many insurance companies, and some do not even use agents and just sell directly to you. To get the best price you need to talk to all these different types of insurance companies.

2. If you have not bought a car yet you need to look into the insurance costs of the different cars. Some of the factors that go into auto insurance quotes are the cost to repair the car, the cars overall safety, the price of the car, and the chance of it getting stolen. If your car has a good safety record which will reduce the risk of injuries, and has a low likelihood of getting stolen, the insurer will offer you a discount.

3. If you own an older car you should consider dropping comprehensive and/or collision coverage. A good rule is that your car should be worth 10 times the premium. If your car is not worth 10 times the premium it is not cost effective to have the coverage you do.

4. A deductible is what you pay before the insurance policy starts to pay. You are able to drop the cost of collision and comprehensive coverage by 15 to 30 percent by simply increasing your deductible from $200 to $500. Even more impressive, if you go to a $1000 deductible you can save 40% or more! It is important that you do not raise your deductible to save money if you do not have the money to cover the deductible.

5. Low mileage discounts are offered to those who do not drive a lot of miles a year. If you drive a lower than average number of miles a year or you are apart of a car pool you can receive a discount on your premium.

6. A great way to save money on your auto insurance quote and your homeowners insurance quote is to get coverage on both through the same insurer. You can also save a little money if you insure multiple vehicles under the same company. You may save money by getting your coverage from different insurance companies, so still look around though.

With the economy how it is everyone is looking to save money, and auto insurance is one thing that is expensive. By using the tips above you can get a cheap auto insurance quote that will save you money but still insure your car.

Winter Car Care And Maintenance Tips

By Richard Crittendon

With the long cold days of winter about to start, you may be thinking that with nobody looking to travel long distances now is the time that both you and the car can rest. Guess again! Winter requires as much and perhaps even more car care than summer time because winter could just worsen whatever technical problem your car was showing in summer. The following tips will show you how to avoid some common winter problems.

Engine

Note down problems like stalling or difficult starts, less power, rough idling and try to get your hands dirty and fix them. Else, get a technician at a repair shop to look at them. These problems might well have existed during summer but winter always tends to make them worse.

Oil

It is important that during winter times, you use oil that can handle the cold weather and manage to flow quickly to critical engine parts, even during severe winter conditions. The frequency of oil changes will depend on the kind of driving you do in the winter – the Owner’s Manual will suggest to you how often you need to change the oil for various driving types. Usually it is suggested that oil be changed every 3-5,000 miles.

Battery

It is again important to check on the battery. The battery’s power comes down significantly in severe cold weather. This is made worse in older batteries. They tend to work fine in summer but fail as soon as the temperature drops. It is therefore essential that a technician check your battery, especially if it is at least four years old. Of course, despite all this it is better to be prepared at all times, with a set of good jumper cables. It might also be a good idea to have a portable power pack in the car, which can again be used in emergencies.

Heater/Defroster

A properly working heater/defroster not only helps passengers stay comfortable but also helps the driver’s visibility, as to drive safely you need to be able to see clearly through the windshield. Keeping a full gas tank helps in being ready but also reduces the chances of any moisture forming in the lines that carry the fuel, which can freeze up and cause problems.

Tire Care

Maintaining proper inflation in tires during winter is also essential. During cold weather, air contracts and so air in the tires also contracts. Highly inflated tires will increase the wear and tear on tires and also increase the fuel consumption. On the other hand, under inflated tires will just reduce traction. You could also consider going in for special tires, which are designed to grip slippery roads when snow and ice can be a problem.

Lights and Wipers

Always make sure that lights are inspected regularly to ensure that bulbs can be lit and headlights be aimed properly. Also, even wiper blades have to be taken care of. Replace them regularly and even consider special snow blades if you are going to be driving in severe weather.

Warm Up

During winter, when you start the engine, just wait for a few seconds so that a proper flow of oil has been started and there is adequate lubrication before driving off. However, waiting for too long is also not good, as that will just waste gas.

Take care of your car for the winter and your car will ensure your safety even during the worst of winter.

What To Look For In A Full Coverage Car Insurance Quote In West Virginia

By Alexis Jensen

There are two distinctly different ways to look at automobile insurance coverage in West Virginia.

First there is the absolute minimum liability insurance that you must purchase in order to legally drive a vehicle. The minimum insurance you are required to buy does not, however, repair your vehicle and it may not cover all medical costs that are incurred as a result of an accident, especially to you or passengers in your vehicle.

The other way of looking at car insurance is in terms of full coverage protection. In order to have true full coverage automobile insurance you need to buy at least four different types of automobile insurance: liability insurance, comprehensive insurance, collision insurance, and personal injury protection insurance.

The minimum liability insurance you must purchase in order to legally drive in West Virginia is what is known as a 20/40/10 liability policy.

What this means is that your insurance will pay up to $20,000 for the medical treatment of any one individual involved in an accident with your vehicle, and your insurance will pay a maximum of $40,000 to cover the medical treatment of all parties injured as a result of a collision with your vehicle. In addition, your insurance will pay a maximum of $10,000 in property damage (this is mainly a payment for the repair or replacement of the other party's vehicle).

There is no guarantee that the state-mandated minimum liability insurance will pay for all medical treatment or that it will pay for all property damage that may be caused by an accident. If your liability insurance does not cover all of the actual medical costs or property damage of an accident it is possible that you could be sued for the remainder and you could lose your savings, your home or other assets.

For this reason many people elect to purchase more than the state-required minimums.

Also, keep in mind that liability insurance alone pays nothing for the repair or replacement of your vehicle and may not pay for medical treatment for you or others in your vehicle at the time of an accident, particularly if you are deemed to be at fault.

If you finance your vehicle your lender, therefore, will require that you purchase additional insurance - in other words, your lender will insist that you have full coverage car insurance.

Full coverage car insurance includes, in addition to liability insurance, collision insurance, comprehensive insurance, and personal injury protection insurance.

Collision insurance covers the repair or replacement of your vehicle if it is damaged in an accident with another vehicle or with a stationary object such as a tree or a guardrail.

Comprehensive insurance covers your vehicle from natural disasters such as wind and hail damage, water damage, damage from falling objects such as tree branches, vandalism and theft. Comprehensive coverage also pays for damage to your vehicle if you strike an animal, such as a deer.

Personal injury protection insurance covers you or passengers in your car for medical needs following an accident.

West Virginia doesn't really offer uninsured motorist insurance coverage, but does allow you to file legal charges against an uninsured motorist, resulting in that motorist not being allowed to drive again until your judgment is paid.

There are a great many variables to consider if you choose to look for a full coverage car insurance quote in West Virginia. The main variable is the amount of coverage you choose in each individual insurance category - and that is a decision that must be made based on your assets, your financial situation, as well as other personal considerations.

Tire Care and Maintenance Tips

By Richard Crittendon

The most recurring maintenance issue that a vehicle owner has to deal with is tire care. This is because it is quite normal for tires to wear out after constant usage and then they have to be replaced with new ones. However, there are many things that you as a vehicle owner can do to extend the lives of the tires and make use of them more efficiently. While this not only saves you time, money and effort, you are also having a positive effect on the environment. Using more new tires means more old ones go to recycling centers and more energy is expended in producing new tires and recycling. So follow the tips below and see how you can use your vehicle tires better and for longer.

Some Maintenance Tips

A. Maintaining proper tire inflation – A tire that is highly inflated increases stiffness in the tires, which may create unwanted vibration. On the other hand, an under inflated tire, is even more serious, resulting in ‘blowouts’ that can lead to a sudden loss of control of the vehicle and accidents. Therefore, the best thing is to maintain the proper inflation pressure at the level mentioned in the Owner’s Manual, by using accurate tire pressure gauges, when the tires are cool.

B. Proper Alignment of Wheels – The way the wheels are set in position relative to the axes of the vehicle is called the wheel alignment and if the alignment is not proper, then the tires will not move freely and instead tend to drag. This will not only cause immediate problems in driving the vehicle but also increase the amount of fuel needed, at the same time reducing tire life. Again, get the alignment checked and adjusted to the specifications mentioned in the Owner’s Manual.

C. Proper Balancing of Tires – If the tire is to run freely and without too much wear and tear, the entire weight of the tire plus the wheel must be uniformly distributed over the circumference of the tire. If not, tires tend to wear more in the heavy spots. Anytime a new tire is put in or a flat tire is repaired, it is best to check and adjust the balancing of the tire.

D. Regular Rotation of Tires – Obviously, not all tires are used in the same manner and to the same extent as others. For example, the front tires tend to work harder because they have to handle the steering action as well as the rolling wear. By regularly rotating tires so that front tires become back and back tires become front, will invariably allow them to run longer. If you also own a full-size spare tire, remember to include that too in your rotation pattern. Follow the rotation patter mentioned in your Owner’s Manual.

E. Proper Storage of Tires – If tires are not to be used for a long duration, then it is essential that they be stored in a proper manner. The best way of storing tires is to keep them upright in clean conditions where there is no sunlight or even very strong artificial light, no heat, no moisture, no ozone (as from electrical motors) and also hydrocarbons.

Following these very simple steps regularly and taking your tires for regular inspection will ensure a long and healthy life for them and your vehicle, and safe riding for you.

Why Buy A Used Ford?

By Kevin Creese

We’ve all sat in traffic jams, and through the haze of frustration and traffic reports on the radio, have had our eyes wander over the surrounding metal stretching back for miles. The blue oval of a used Ford, or box fresh one, invariably stares back at you – and with good reason. For years Ford has outsold its rivals, with a new or used Ford delivering everything a car buyer could want, with cutting edge design, reliability, practicality and crucially; value for money all included. Take the Ford Ka for instance. This car is more popular among women than a small dog in a sparkly handbag and despite being 12 years old, it remains so futuristic looking, an extraterrestrial should be supplied as standard.

A perusal through a selection of the remaining Ford range has the population well catered for too. From said Ka, we have the lovable Fiesta hatchback, the mid-size Focus, the motorway stallion Mondeo and the kid transporter - the Galaxy to name but a few. Throw a few ‘ST’ badges onto the Fiesta or Focus and you’ll also have enough whiplash inducing acceleration for the performance purist. After all, Ford know a bit about racing too – they supplied the engines for many Formula One cars from the ‘60’s right up to 2004, many carrying the much worshipped ‘Cosworth’ badge. Not only that, they power the entire field in the USA’s Champ Car series which includes the famous Indianapolis 500 and have scored points in every World Rally meeting since 2002 (92 consecutive races!) clinching two championships as a result. Ford boring then, well not quite

So, enough setting the scene – why buy a used Ford? The best recommendation has to be commuters. No seriously, because those that pile on the pounds at corporate dinners, also pile on the motorway miles, relentlessly, year on year with their Fords happily on cruise control. This means simply that companies happily add Fords to their annual line-ups due to their near bullet proof reliability and cost effectiveness. Ok, so when the cruise control is switched off whilst sitting in a 25 mile jam and the motorway looks like the world’s largest used Ford showroom, you may want exclusivity. However, follow this logic and you’ll stick with a walkman rather than an iPod, an Atari computer rather than a Nintendo Wii and a clothes mangle rather than washing machine. The best inventions are always the most popular – so what if everyone wants a Ford with an iPod adapter?

Ok, time for the science bit. In 2006, Ford produced 6.6 million vehicles and as of 2007, has more quality awards from JD Power (only the biggest customer satisfaction survey wizards) than any other car maker. So even though we’re only halfway through, let’s recap – great sporting heritage, most customer satisfaction awards, trendy design, reliable and reasonable. Just in case you need more reasons, let’s see how a typical used Ford, in this case a Focus, stacks up against its competitors.

Featuring more pyramids in its design than an Egyptian desert, this family hatchback is Britain’s best selling car since its birth in 1998, overtaking the Escort, which was, of course also a Ford. You can pick up a newer face-lifted 2006 model for less than £10,000. With that you get a 1.6 litre engine, surrounded by the safest car of its class. Not only is it safer, but check any critics’ opinions and it beats all comers as an overall package. Just to drop a further statistic in, for the same money you could have a Volkswagen Golf that is a further two years older, that’d be coming to the end of its warranty and with a lower specification. Probably in beige with a pipe and slippers too.

Let’s imagine for a moment, you’ve done the deed and your used Ford has ousted the dog as the family’s most loved pet. How far from a dealer are you if all I’ve said is a big fat lie and your car has a problem? Unless you’re based on the outskirts of Mars, you won’t be far and for peace of mind it’s nice to know they’re nearby should the unimaginable happen. The JD Power awards also cover servicing and after-sales care so you can look forward top notch care when your car is due for a service. Nice to know Ford’s customer service has improved since Henry Ford famously declared you could have the world’s first production car in any colour, as long as it was black.

In conclusion, Top Gear named the Ford Mondeo ‘Car of the Year 2007’. Admittedly it was because it was the only car that at least one of the presenters didn’t dislike, but this is the point I’ve been trying to drive home throughout this article. Name your favourite car design, favourite interior, best handling, fastest or most spacious cars and I doubt Ford is going to outscore Ferrari, Bentley, Lotus or Volvo in these categories (Volvo being the most exotic obviously). However name the car that best fits your criteria (not to mention the majority of Britain) and I’d put a sizable amount of my pauper’s income that it’d be Ford. We may all want to be with one half of Bradgelina - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to the uninitiated, but in reality Sharon from number 25 is the best bet – she’s got some nice curves, is reasonable to run and crucially – she won’t breakdown and stick a vile of your blood around her neck.

Basic Steps To Restoring A Car

By Richard Crittendon

They say that time has its effect on everything and this holds true for everything including your car. As with other things cars to tend to rust and lose their shine with time and in case you wish to get back the original luster of your car then it is imperative that you get it restored at the earliest. Restoring a car often call for patience and requires a great deal of knowledge to begin. We have listed here some basic approaches of restoring a car to its previous state.

1) You must have all the necessary tools in advance to start the car restoration. In case you miss something or do not have a fair idea then you can always seek professional help for the purpose.

2) Car restoration needs ample amount of space almost double of your garage. Normally one can keep one half for the dismantled pieces and the rest for the car itself. Keep engine, chassis, car door, and other big part in the dry area of the garage and the place should be oil free. One important point here is that number the parts in the sequence you pull them out, as this eases the job of assembling the unit as one. If possible, draw a flowchart of the disassembling process and reverse it when you join the parts. Otherwise integration of the parts can surely be a hassle. Do remember that disassembling is easier than assembling.

3) Always use the original parts for your vehicle. Although they cost a bit higher but in longer run, their efficiency is self-proven. Cheap and fake parts die away sooner. In case you experience difficulty in getting the original parts you can search the dealer through internet, or directory services. Your friends could also help you in achieving this. Be in touch with other car owners who have the same model as that of your car.

4) Put greater emphasis on the place where rust is more. Rub it thoroughly and apply the good quality primer. Always use good quality paint for the surface of your car. It is better to use an air sprayer than a traditional brush sprayer.

5) Tailor new seat covers for your seats. If you want to retain the old ones then wash them regularly. Apply polish to the dash board, steering, and other plastic and metal accessories in the interior of the car. Read car magazines to brush up your knowledge about latest available accessories to add a zing to your car.

6) Clean the engine couple of times over and wipe out all the dirt and oil stained slush. Clear the exhaust pipe nozzles. Brake gripper, tire strength, gear wire and gauge must be cleaned and replaced if need be.

After you have completed the restoration job successfully your car will surely adorn a new glitter as it was at one point of time. Last but not the least one must never be afraid to do experiments that might prove beneficial for the long life of your car.

How To Get Affordable Automobile Insurance In Louisiana

By Alexis Jensen

Don't drive without automobile insurance in Louisiana. If you are stopped for any reason and you cannot prove that you have automobile insurance your license plates can be removed from your vehicle on the spot and your vehicle impounded. If you cannot prove that you have automobile insurance within 3 days your plates may be permanently destroyed.

Rather than risk this scenario it would be better to learn some of the many ways for you to get affordable automobile insurance in Louisiana and avoid any potential problems altogether.

For example, if you can park your automobile in a garage at night let your agent know and you can save money on your insurance each and every month.

If you pay your premium automatically each month out of your checking account you'll also save money.

If you can drive less each month you can save money. For example, many people are now using public transportation as much as possible, leaving their automobile parked at home. If you can reduce your driving to below 500 miles per month you may be entitled to a Low Mileage Discount.

If you can carpool to work you can save a ton on your automobile insurance. By cutting the number of days that you drive in rush hour traffic you cut your premium - let your agent know that you have reduced your driving to and from work every month.

If you retire or if you stop driving back and forth to work every day at all for any other reason let your agent know as you will be entitled to a reduction in your premium every month.

Consolidating all of your insurance policies at the same insurance company earns you a Multi-Policy Discount.

Drive safely and legally all the time. In other words, keep your driving record clean of any speeding tickets or other moving violations and whatever you do don't get any DUIs or DWIs on your record or you will not see affordable rates for a minimum of 3 years.

Increase your deductible. This is a quick and easy way to reduce your monthly insurance cost but don't promise to pay a larger deductible than you can actually afford.

If you have an older vehicle that has little if any Kelly Blue Book value then you are wasting your money if you pay for collision or comprehensive insurance - cancel those insurances and save your money for a newer vehicle.

Buying your policy over the internet almost always saves you money - as long as you don't get lazy and rely on just one of the auto insurance comparison websites. Since each site only compares the prices of just a handful of insurance companies, if you are really serious about saving money then you need to make your comparisons on at least 3 different websites.

Also - and this very important - you must put the exact same information into the forms on all 3 sites or you aren't comparing the same policy across all of the sites.

As soon as you've made all of your comparisons then the rest is easy - just choose the lowest-priced policy and you have become an expert on how to get affordable automobile insurance in Louisiana.

Basic Vehicle Maintenance You Need to Have Done Regularly

By Richard Crittendon

In our modern hectic schedules cars play an integral part in taking us to our destination. Many of us cannot imagine a day without our cars and since they happen to so important in our way of life their maintenance should be a priority. Regular servicing and proper care is essential for every type of vehicle and any sort of ignorance in this can cause hassle at a later time. We have listed down some crucial maintenance tips for various components which will come handy in keeping your car in good shape.

Engine: Any vehicle derives its life-force from the engine. A robust engine will make your vehicle run smoothly without any hiccups. Since there are many building blocks in it, so they have to be tackled individually. Air filter is the important part of it that keeps check on the dirt from outside. Clogged air filter results in poor starting of the vehicle, less mileage, noise issues etc. Normally air filter should be replaced after 3000 miles but you should check it regularly even before it reaches the limit. Jammed or black colored air filter must be replaced as soon as possible.

Brakes: Malfunctioning brakes can be one of the major causes of accident, so examine that how long it takes for the vehicle to stop, after you apply the brakes. Check for the brake fluid. The first indication of lesser brake fluid is the noise that vehicle makes when it stops. The brake pads are often the root cause of many vehicle related issues. Just replace them and you are over with hassles you might have in the future from the brakes.

Tires and Gear Systems: Tires are responsible for the smooth running of the car and aged and wearied ones must be changed at the earliest. Next in line one must take care of the gear system which many people tend to neglect. Oily dust which creeps in the wires and grooves is detrimental for the speed and life of the engine. Wipe it off with the cloth.

Always keep the tire pressure at optimal level. It should be neither too high nor too low.

Fuel tank: Fuel tank generally leaks due to rust or creak in the lid of the cover. Take precautions so that fuel should not leak down on the ground. Also if you are not sure about how to take care of the fuel tank, do not hesitate to take your car to a service center.

In addition spare parts should be kept in the storage capacity of the vehicle. In case of emergency you must have access to them. Also it is necessary to rub off the rust from the surface of the vehicle if there is any. Also one must look out for loose bolts and door joints are they happen to be a matter of great concern. Finally one must also make it a point to take their vehicle at regular intervals to the service center for a proper upkeep.

How To Get The Best Rates On Automobile Insurance In Louisiana

By Alexis Jensen

Louisiana is one of the strictest states when it comes to having automobile insurance. Driving without insurance will get you in so much trouble that you simply don't want to even consider it.

Instead, let's look for ways to drive down the cost of your automobile insurance each and every month. That way you'll never have to even consider driving without automobile insurance in Louisiana.

Pay your premiums automatically each month. If you set up an auto-pay plan you will save money.

Park your car in a garage at night. That will also save you money.

Don't modify your car to go faster. Any such modifications will cost you big time.

Ask your agent if a steering wheel locking device will save you money and ask about any other simple and low-cost anti-theft devices that could save you money.

Join a carpool at work or start one if there isn't one already. A large part of your monthly premium is based on the number of miles that you drive getting to and from work every day. If you can cut the number of rush-hour miles that you drive in half you will save quite a bit on your insurance.

If you retire and you're no longer drive to work at all, let your agent know as this will save you even more.

Can you use public transportation more and leave your car at home? If you can reduce your driving down to less than 500 miles a month you just may qualify for a substantial Low Mileage Discount.

Under 25 years of age? Stay in school and work hard to get good grades. If you can keep at least a "B" average you should qualify for a hefty Good Student Discount.

Drivers who are over 55 may be able to save money by taking a special driver's refresher course. Ask your agent if your company participates in that program.

Don't get any negative marks on your driving record. Make an effort not to get any speeding tickets or other moving violations. And whatever you do don't get a DUI or a DWI on your record - if you do you won't get the best rates on automobile insurance in Louisiana or anywhere else for at least 3 long years.

Increase your deductible if you can afford to do so. Increasing your deductible will definitely lower your monthly automobile insurance rate, but it also means that you have to pay more any time you file a claim - so don't make monetary promises you can't keep.

You'll also save money if you buy your automobile insurance online. A lot of people make the mistake of just looking at one of the automobile price comparison websites. If you do that you'll only see the rates from a handful of companies. If you want to see the rates from all of the insurance companies in Louisiana then you'll have to check out at least 3 of the comparison sites.

Use the information you have gathered from this article and fill out the forms exactly the same on all three sites so that you are comparing the same policy each time.

Then simply pick the lowest-priced policy and you're done! This is how to get the best rates on automobile insurance in Louisiana.

Remember the Wagon?

By Scott Conklin

The period starting around 1995 and ending in early 2008 will very likely be remembered for the new American summer vacation cliché. The family outing, the short vacation, trips to the beach, mountains, or even Grandma’s house, soundly revolved around the family SUV. Big enough to seat the entire family in a distinct measure of comfort, strong enough to denote safety, and aggressive enough in appearance to make a definitive statement about the driver, there was certainly a lot to love about the SUV. Of course, that was before the age of triple digit oil barrel prices. Now, the beast that the Sport Utility Vehicle appeared to have officially killed way back in 1996, the station wagon, is making a comeback.

The lineage of the station wagon can be traced all the way back to a variant of the Ford Model T, but according to some station wagon aficionados, the first true station wagon was the 1923 Star made by Durant Motors Company. The station wagon truly bloomed into the car of choice for large families, as one might expect, with the baby boom following World War II. The move of families away from urban areas and into the suburbs paired with the spread of the highway system and the increase in average family size made the station wagon practical. And despite the wagon never occupying the same public love as the sports car or even the pickup truck, prior to the 1970s gas crisis, the station wagon accounted for nearly one out of every five cars on the road.

The gas crisis of the 1970s, much like the gas crisis of today, put a crimp in the practicality of the large, American station wagon. The minivan, officially launched in 1984, helped to push the station wagon further towards retirement, and ironically, the widespread boom of the Sport Utility Vehicle in 1995, meant that the 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon was the last true American station wagon on the market. Everyone, it seemed, had traded low and wide with tall and off-road-capable.

Or did they? Despite one replacing the other, the station wagon and the SUV share a lot in common. Until 1938, station wagons were officially classified as commercial trucks and were routinely built on the chassis of half-ton pickup trucks. The break down for the modern SUV is the same. Those which are built on a laddered frame, more reminiscent of a classic truck due to the ability to distribute weight, are considered trucks by fuel economy standards. However, those built on a solid, one piece frame – often called Crossovers - are usually classified as cars, and in many states, station wagons. Yes, it appears that the station wagon never died, it just went through an aggressive makeover.

Granted, it’s quite easy to look at a crossover and assert, “that doesn’t look like my father’s station wagon” and you would be correct in asserting that. Like many bellbottoms before them, the station wagon has returned under a new guise and has been updated to pass muster in the modern world. Like most cars today, the overall look is more aggressive, merging the handling of a car, roughly the appearance of a sport utility vehicle, and yes, the practicality of a station wagon. And the advances go beyond looks. The smaller crossovers and blatant modern station wagons like the Audi A4 Avant, Volvo V70, and the Subaru Forester, have marked increases in fuel economy when compared to the SUVs that they are quickly starting to replace.

Yes, it was the fuel crisis of the 1970s that led to decline of the station wagon, and the SUV that originally killed them. However, it was the gas crisis of 2008 that gave rebirth to the modern station wagon, or whatever the car manufacturers are calling them. Keep that in mind as you pile the kids into your Ford Flex, Chevy HHR, or Honda CR-V for a trip to Grandma’s.

Learning to Ride a Motorcycle

As kids, most of us are fascinated by motorcycles, by their power, their speed and even by stylish motorcycle boots they wear. However, motorcycling is serious business and lately a lot of work has gone into ensuring that people who would like to ride a motorcycle are given proper rider training.

Motorcycling can be great fun but it can be a dangerous sport as well. We have to make sure that we learn to ride a bike properly and cautiously. With the proper kind of attitude, you will be able to enjoy the sport more while ensuring that you and the public stay protected.

• Take a Proper Rider Training Course. Most learn to ride on their friends' or cousin's bikes, in parking lots. However, it is essential that eventually you do take proper rider training from professionals, say a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course. You will not only learn more about bikes and their proper upkeep, you will also be taught fundamental skills that will help you to ride your bike more competently. Once acquired, these skills will last you a lifetime.

• Be Patient and Go Slow. You may be highly impatient to buy your own bike and take it for long rides. However, if you are still new at this sport, you are more than likely to make mistakes. Be patient and take time to learn to ride properly and comfortably. Being able to ride a powerful bike takes time and plenty of practice.

• Make Sure you know the Rules of the Road Each state and each country will have a different set of traffic laws for motorcycles. So make sure you are well aware of the traffic laws in the particular area you are traveling in.

• Make Doubly Sure you have a Proper License. Though you may know how to ride a bike properly and you have full faith in your abilities to competently motorcycle, even on crowded public roads, you should not do so if you do not have a proper license. You are endangering your own safety and the lives of the public at large. Once you have finished your rider training course, take the test and acquire a proper motorcycling license.

• Now for the bike. This is the moment you have been waiting for - your very own motorcycle. But have your considered all the options and what each one will cost you? You can either borrow or rent or make an outright purchase of a bike. Each will have its own risks and benefits. Plan ahead by considering which option you can best afford now.

• Buy Proper Safety Gear. While riding powerful motorbikes at high speeds may be great fun, it is also extremely high-risk. Especially at risk are newcomers who have yet to master riding bikes in unfamiliar and unexpected situations. The best protection you can get is from using proper safety gear. Make sure you have a helmet that fits well, pair of motorcycle boots that give ankle protection, good fitting leather gloves and leather jacket.
