Pro Evolution Soccer 2008: A Radical Rethink Of Soccer

By Abdelrahim Mansour

Konami, within the Pro Evolution Soccer series, has a video game of association football by the name of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 has been released for Wii, Windows, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable, as well as PlayStation 2, and the Xbox 360. There is a demo of the PS3 version available for convenient downloading right from within the PlayStation Store; there has been a demo for the Xbox 360 that has been released within the Xbox Live Marketplace and a demo for the PC that has also been released.

The Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, which was named in Japan as the Winning Eleven Play Maker 2008 radically, differs from all of the other different versions. However, the basic game play is mainly focused mainly on pointing the remote for the Wii exactly right at the screen and then directing all of the players by actually dragging them using the cursor on the screen, and passing can be completed by simply pointing right to the desired player or space and then pressing the button. In turn, this allows the player to experience a game approach that is more tactical, because there is just about total freedom in moving every player that you would like anywhere on the screen, and a lot more maneuvers and tactics which can be used more within the attacking game than it has ever been before.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 omits Champions Road Master League, which allows the player tour through a whole slew of completely different leagues that are located around Europe, and during the time that the game is on, it is nearly impossible to get the players that come from all of the defeated teams. It also features a mode online in which Konami refers to as the absolute best experience, when Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is compared to all of the other versions...

The Nintendo’s Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 generally received a lot more positive reviews in comparison to all of the other versions. Some of the new features that are included in PES 2008 are listed as follows:

1) Teamvision, which is an Al System that is new proprietary adaptive.

2) Improved graphics like shirt creasing and facial animation.

3) Twenty Four Stadiums for the PlayStation 2 version.

4) Thirty Stadiums for the Nintendo Wii version.

5) Increased Techniques dribble on the ball.

6) Shirt and Diving pulling available on next-generation only.

7) New set pieces systems which allow the gamer to make all of the taller players so that they are able to come up for the free kicks and corners as well as total control of the wall.

8) The database for the Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 will be accurate until August 31st, 2007.

9) The facial import like in Virtua Tennis 3 by using the USB webcam.

All-in-all, the Nintendo Wii’s version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 offers the exact same level of realism that has established the series like the definitive football title, however it has experienced a radical rethink in order to make the best of the control system that the Wii’s has, which is motion-sensitive. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for the Nintendo Wii has six different game modes, League and Cup elements, spanning match, Trade and Training section. The new version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 also features what is known as an exclusive competition on Champions Road, in which, the players are able to take the team that they have chosen to compete within the league competitions that take place all over the world.

Natural Bodybuilding - 5 Elements For A Complete Bodybuilding System

By Gerry Marsh

Natural bodybuilding, whether you are a beginning bodybuilder or a seasoned pro requires that your bodybuilding program is a complete system. You simply cannot build masses of muscles quickly and maintain a toned, sculpted body by going about bodybuilding in a haphazard fashion.

Natural bodybuilding is not about tossing all of the bodybuilding supplements in the trash and then spending countless hours in the gym training hard. This will only lead to exhaustion and potential injury.

There are many bodybuilding programs available to choose from that offer natural bodybuilding methods. Most of these programs are good as far as they go. But many of them only provide part of the picture and do not provide a complete system for natural bodybuilding.

Building muscle requires that five elements be included in any natural bodybuilding program:

=> Strength training

=> Aerobic Exercise

=> Endurance Training

=> Proper Diet With Healthy Nutrition

=> Rest - Including Adequate Sleep

If you make sure your program includes all five elements, you will build muscle faster and actually spend less time in the gym.

Strength training is usually done in the gym and can take very little time if done correctly. Your workout can take as little as three minutes, three times a week, working two muscle groups each day, for roughly one and a half minutes. But you need to put maximum effort into it. If you can do more than 6 or 8 reps, you are not working your muscles hard enough.

Follow strength training with aerobics to build endurance. You really don't need to think about this as long as you are doing everything else. Endurance will build on its own, naturally.

Don't think of aerobic exercise as something you do just to lose weight. Even if you are not trying to lose weight aerobic exercise is still necessary. It helps build muscle, keeps fat off, builds endurance, and strengthens your heart. Some type of aerobic activity three times per week is essential in a natural bodybuilding program.

You have to feed your muscles if you want them to grow. If you do not get enough proper nutrition, they will actually feed on themselves. Follow a good, healthy diet for muscle building. Include protein, as well as other needed vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

Rest is something that is often overlooked in our busy world but it is crucial to build muscles. You are not building muscles while you are lifting weights. Your muscles grow when they are at rest. They need this down time to rest and repair themselves. If you are tired, so are your muscles. Get adequate rest and help you muscles grow.

The best natural bodybuilding programs cover all of the essential elements in several ways. Most programs include ebooks, special reports, audio and sometimes video. The top bodybuilding programs also include ongoing coaching as well software to track your nutrition and workout progress.

And all natural bodybuilding programs stress building muscles and getting toned without the benefit of synthetic drugs that come out of someones' lab. Supplements are important, but they should be natural, wholesome supplements, not dangerous drugs.

Horse Health - Laminitis, The Causes And Treatment

By Tane Moores

Laminitis is a condition which is affecting more and more horses and ponies with devastating effect. One of the principle management factors in horse health is a good understanding of conditions and how they develop, that way you can act to prevent condition like Laminitis from occurring in the first place. The term 'Laminitis' is often bandied around but many people don’t know exactly what it is.

At it’s most basic, laminitis is as inflammation of the lining or laminae of the inner hoof wall which causes lameness, however it does affect the whole of the horse’s metabolism and has an effect throughout his body. Research is ongoing into the causes of this condition, there are issues with welfare and weight but more and more research is being concentrated on possible trigger factors within the diet. With the ever increasing impact of climate change on grass growth patterns there is quite simply more grass available so the sugars in that can lead to changes in the metabolism of the horse, especially if he is a overweight, leading eventually to insulin resistance which is being looked at as one of the possible causes of Laminitis following a chain reaction of changes in the horse's metabolism.

What can you do to help prevent it affecting your horses and ponies. First you should look at body condition. Generally speaking overweight horses are more prone to Laminitis, partly due to the concussive effect on the hoof of the extra weight when riding, and partly to the increased risk of insulin resistance. Current research into the effects of Insulin resistance points to a serious effect on blood flow to the hoof as well as the effect on the absorption of soluble carbohydrates. If your horse does seem to be gaining weight, check it out by using a weight tape if you don’t have access to a weigh bridge. Take action straight away by reducing feed and increasing exercise.

Keep your horse’s feet in good condition, thoroughly check them when grooming to make sure there are no signs of problems. Any suspicion of soreness or swelling should be investigated immediately. If your horse’s gait changes in any way check it out and if necessary get your vet to have a look. Exercise has a twofold benefit in that it will help keep weight under control and there is evidence that it promotes hoof health which in turn reduces the risk of many problems as well as Laminitis.

What should you do if you suspect problems – contact your vet. With prompt treatment there is no reason why your horse should not recover well. Treatments include analgesics, antibiotics, drugs to improve the circulation, heat and cold, anti-histamines and nerve blocks. If you choose to use dietary controls do remember to ensure that your horse is receiving all the nutrients he needs, and to add supplements to his diet if necessary.

Where horse health is concerned there is no substitute for a vigilant and caring owner who monitors every aspect of their horse’s wellbeing. If you maintain a good regime in the care of your horse you will spot problems before they become serious and avoid the distressing complications of conditions like Laminitis.

Are The Bodybuilding Supplement Reviews Telling The Whole Truth?

By Gerry Marsh

There is no doubt that some bodybuilding supplements can help you build your body to a higher level of perfection and peak performance - if you are actively involved in the sport of bodybuilding. If you are a competitive bodybuilder, supplements are an absolute must. Getting the whole truth about what a particular bodybuilding supplement does is not so clear cut.

For any supplement to help build maximum muscle tissue requires that you put out maximum effort. You can down all of energy drinks on the market, gorge yourself on protein and carbohydrates and without a lot of work on your part, you will just get fat! No magic pill or bodybuilding supplement out of a chemical lab will change that.

Some of the muscle magazines and web sites would have you think otherwise, but they are wrong. If you take time to check, you will find that most of the mags and sites giving glowing reviews to a magic pill or formula are owned by the same people who own the pill.

So, with literally hundreds of bodybuilding supplements on the market how do you choose? It can be confusing. Just be sure that the supplements you take help you reach your bodybuilding goals. And stay away from the over-hyped miracle pill that does it all.

There are several supplements that you really do need to help build and tone your body. These are legal and affordable and without harmful side-effects:

Protein

Glutamine

Creatine

Nitric Oxide

Protein

Every bodybuilder needs to supplement with protein. It is an essential building block and helps build muscle mass that is toned and fit. Whey protein, which comes from cows milk, is an ideal source of protein. It contains little if any fat, or lactose and is delivers essential amino acids. Look for whey protein isolate which is the purest form.

Creatine

Creatine helps supply energy to the muscles. It is synthesized in the liver and is found naturally in skeletal muscles. The liver produces adequate amounts for normal activity but studies have shown that ingesting creatine does increase the amount in the muscles. Creatine not only helps in building strength and muscle mass but also increases performance by combating fatigue. If you are a competitive bodybuilder, be aware that while creatine use is not considered 'doping', certain forms are banned from sale in several countries.

Glutamine

L-Glutamine is an amino acid, and like creatine, it is normally produced in sufficient quantities by the body itself. However, when you place your body under stress with hard workouts, your body cannot keep up with the demand. Glutamine helps to restore your energy level and rebuild muscle tissue. It also helps to strengthen the immune system and fuel the brain. Glutamine also encourages the production of Human Growth Hormone. Many suppliers mix it with other supplements to mask the bitterness of pure glutamine.

Nitric Oxide

Nitric oxide increases the flow of blood throughout your body. This increases the supply of muscle building agents to the skeletal muscles. This can boost your overall performance and your power output. Nitric oxide is produced naturally during hard exercise and is what gives you that "pumped" feeling.

Supplementing with nitric oxide can give you that "pumped" feeling without the effort of exercise, but it is a false feeling. Unless you work your muscles, they will not grow no matter what bodybuilding supplements you take.

Horse Facts - Why You Should Watch Your Horse's Weight

By Tane Moores

Your horse's health is your responsibility. No if's, no but's, it is completely and entirely down to you to ensure that your horse is well. There are many factors that you have to be aware of when you care for any animal. Generally speaking, animal behaviour and development should always conform to a certain course and your horse is no different. As a horse owner you have to be confident that you are checking for the right things and taking action to rectify problems that may go wrong before they become an issue.

You must make sure that you are doing whatever is necessary to ensure that your horse is growing healthily, and being brought on in a way that gives him everything he needs to develop into the best horse he can be. You have to pay close attention to your horse as he develops There are many things that can go wrong and he can't tell you. You need to know him well enough to spot them. If you haven’t owned a horse before, you should get some suitable books and read up on them, then spend some time at your local stables talking to the people who care for the horses, rather than just going for a ride, talk to other horse owners and to your vet. Find out what you need to look for, make yourself familiar with the common problems. If you don’t know what to watch for, you might not be able to recognise the symptoms.

Your horse’s weight is always a good indicator of how healthy he is. There are many different breeds of horse, and they differ in size within the breed, but when you own a horse, you should find out from your vet some idea of the ideal weight, If you suspect your horse may have a problem, check his weight. Even if you don't have any concerns it does no harm to weigh him regularly and make a note of any fluctuations. You will spot dramatic changes quite easily but a steady decline might only show up with a regular 'weigh in'. If your horse loses a lot of weight in a week or so, it is a fair indicator that something is wrong, and you must contact your Vet immediately.

With most animals, and horses are no exception, sicknesses can develop in no time, and they can become too ill to save almost before you have noticed that anything is amiss. Even a small weight change over a short period can indicate a problem before it is full blown, especially if his eating habits change. If your horse is being weighed on a regular basis, you will be able to tell if there's a problem relatively quickly. If you can weigh your horse on a regular basis, you are going to have a very much better chance of spotting anything that goes wrong which, in an extreme case, could save your horse’s life. Most good stables have a scale, if you stable your horse at home speak to the owners of the local stables and arrange to use theirs. Failing that you can always use a public weighbridge, it's not ideal but it's better than nothing.

This is a very simple precaution but it will contribute to the well being of your horse with little effort on your part, and you should have many happy years of riding out together.

7 Basics For Bodybuilding Success

By Gerry Marsh

Whether you are a serious competitor or a casual bodybuilder, your actual muscle building workouts are only a small part of bodybuilding. There are seven basic ingredients required for bodybuilding success with the exercise routines, themselves, making up only a small part - about 20% of your success. You need to pay attention to all seven factors to gain maximum muscle in the shortest time.

1 - Over training

One of the most common mistakes made by new bodybuilders is over training. I know, it seems to make sense that you need to train as hard as possible. And this is true - up to a point. It is accepted that you have to make your muscles fail in order to build larger, stronger muscles. But this is done by working your muscles hard for a short period and then giving each group a day off.

2 - Work Every Muscle

When you look around the gym which type of body do you admire? It's the evenly muscled, well developed and toned physique, right? You develop this type of body by exercising every muscle group. If you concentrate on only one group, you may end up with a body that gets a lot of views on YouTube, but they won't be views of admirers. Be sure your routine is well rounded and works every muscle group.

3 - Nutrition

Proper nutrition is critical when bodybuilding. You need to start your schedule with a proper, well balanced diet. A bodybuilding diet needs a lot of protein and more than just the minimum daily allowance of other vitamins and minerals. It is best to eat 5 to six smaller meals each day rather than the typical 3 meals. This keeps your body well supplied with the nutrients it needs throughout the day.

4 - Supplements

It is impossible for a serious bodybuilder to get all of the required nutrition from food alone. So you will need to take supplements. Protein should be at the top of your list. Whey protein is recommended as economical and easily utilized by your body. Also consider the amino acids, L-Glutamine and L-Arginine. Creatine can also be beneficial but with caution. Some countries ban the use of certain forms of creatine in competitive body building.

5 - Personal Trainer/Coach

A personal trainer is very valuable, especially when you are beginning. They will help you avoid serious mistakes and injury. Bodybuilding is not a sport you want to undertake without guidance. If you can't afford a personal trainer, approach someone at the gym that you admire and ask their advice about a particular exercise or apparatus. Or ask them how they were able to get that ripped 6 pack or those bulging pecs. You may just strike gold and find a solid mentor.

6 - Rest

Rest is critical! Your muscles do not grow when they are working. They grow when you are resting. Working your muscles hard actually creates micro-tears in the muscle tissue. It is during periods of rest that your body repairs the torn tissue and actually builds your muscles a little stronger.

7 - Track Your Progress

You need to track your progress or you will never know how you are doing. Your tracking needs to begin with specific goals that are reasonable. Unless you know where you are going, you will never know when, or if, you get there.

In summary, to build massive muscle correctly without injury you have to follow only 7 basic principles. Each one is important to your success. Ignore any one of them and you will likely fail. Follow them and you can achieve the body you have only dreamed about!

Footwork And Balls: Table Tennis Training

By Mario Churchill

Table tennis can be a fun and rewarding sport to play. With the proper training, and with acquired skills and endurance, anyone can learn to play table tennis well. More popularly known by its trade name, ping pong, table tennis may seem like a ballet when watched, but it can be difficult to learn.

If you are interested in playing table tennis, then you will benefit from table tennis training. Whether you are playing the sport as an enthusiast, or as a prospective international competitor, then you need to know the basics of the game, its rules, and even the physics that govern it.

In a nutshell, table tennis is played by two or four players, who face each other on opposite sides of a table, and are separated by a low net. Each opponent needs to keep the ball in the air, and they do this by hitting it with a paddle or racket from one side of the table to the other, or by bouncing the ball on the table if the force exerted by the paddle is insufficient to send the ball farther. Scores are awarded to the opposing team if the other team is unable to hit a ball that is in their capacity to hit.

There are two main skills that you will learn when you engage in table tennis training: speed and spin. You need to hit the ball at high speeds, and you will need to think on your toes as well, as table tennis is a very fast game. You will also need to give the ball a spin when you hit it with your racket. This spin can change a ball’s flight path, making it difficult for the other team to estimate the proper location with which to hit it. The best table tennis players can hit balls at speeds over a hundred kilometers per hour, or at speeds approaching seventy miles per hour.

Games can also be won by a good racket. Also called the bat, a racket will have two sides coated with a rubber mat. You can customize this rubber matting by estimating what speeds or spins you are comfortable with. When you are able to hold the racket expertly in your hand, and shift from one side of the racket to the other, then you can explore the advantages offered by the different table tennis racket rubber surfaces.

How you hold the bat can also make a difference in your play. In addition to building your endurance, table tennis training will make you find what holding position is comfortable for you. In general, there are three different holding positions for the table tennis racket. You can hold it as you would a pen, giving you greater grip, but less control over what rubber surface you choose. You can hold it like you would hold a hand in a hand shake, giving you more leeway to spin the racket and change your surfaces, but lessening the power of your grip. An experimental grip, the V-grip, combines the advantages of both grips, but needs skill to use and learn.

If you are interested in training to play table tennis, contact your local gym or physical fitness program for availability of table tennis courts. When you start your training, begin by viewing videos or DVDs to aid you in understanding the game. You may also need to do hands on training while watching table tennis training videos or DVDs, such as when you are instructed on how to hold the racket, or how to position yourself when you start playing.

Table tennis is difficult to learn, but with the proper training, you will be able to play it with some skill in no time. All you need to do is practice, take care of your gear, and you can enjoy table tennis and the exhilaration it can offer.

About the Author: Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects. For more information on table tennis, also called ping pong, checkout his recommended websites.

Natural Bodybuilding Nutrition

By Gerry Marsh

Many bodybuilders use supplements that help their muscles to grow quickly. And there is nothing wrong with this. Care must be taken though to make sure that what we put into our bodies is not just cooked up in a chemical lab. Natural bodybuilding relies on natural nutrition rather than artificial substances. This doesn't mean that you can't use supplements to help muscle growth. It just means that these supplements should be natural products. And this means staying clear of man-made steroids and hormones.

Bodybuilding as a sport, just like professional ball other competitive amateur sports, takes a dim view of using illegal and artificial substances – especially in competitions. In fact, there are many contests for only natural bodybuilders. Contestants are tested before competition and if found to have illegal substances in their body are not allowed to compete.

There is good reason for this. No one wants competitions designed to destroy the contestants but this is what the synthetic substances do. While they may actually help your muscles grow very quickly, they can have horrible side effects. Natural bodybuilding is about growing your body naturally with natural and staying healthy while you are growing your muscles.

You have to make a choice. And if you do decide to "go natural" it is really important that you get enough of the right types and amounts of nutrients and vitamins to gain the maximum benefit from your workouts. This requires eating properly to make sure that you are getting all of the muscle building proteins that your body requires to work under stress. Natural bodybuilding nutrition also requires daily multi-vitamins.

An effective weight training program together with proper nutrition is all that is needed to build your body naturally. Steroids or growth hormones are not needed for any reason at all for you to gain maximum muscle mass. For every person that says that synthetic substances are needed to help build muscle mass there are two others that put the lie to this and have the healthy, muscular bodies to prove it.

Proper nutrition is a must in a natural bodybuilding program. You must also keep a positive mind set. You don't need the artificial crutches, do you? Of course not! Just keep that in mind and half the battle is won. But you do need to take some supplements if your goal is fit, toned muscles. Stick with supplements like creatine and glutamine which are naturally produced in the human body anyway. Whey protein is also a great supplement. These simply enhance the ingredients produced naturally by your own body.

A natural bodybuilding regimen of proper diet, including correct supplements, will produce a healthy toned body. This is definitely the way to go if you want to end up with a healthy body and feeling good about your program. You don't need hormones or steroids so avoid them at all cost.

Natural bodybuilding is best for everyone. Don’t take the chance that you will suffer ill effects from steroid use. Stick with a strong workout program and commit building your body in a natural way not an artificial way.

Equestrian Sports – Is This A Career For You?

By Tane Moores

Some of us just love horses, regardless of age or sex, we just love them. I can remember being a very small child and always asking Santa for a pony for Christmas, or when birthdays came around or instead of an Easter Egg – any excuse for a present was an excuse to ask for a pony! All I ever wanted as a child was a pony of my own that I could spend time with day in and day out – and I was not unusual in that desire.

Some people outgrow that desire but the true equestrian never does – you live eat, sleep and breathe horses. Your every waking moment is filled with the thought of your horses, or just any horses to be truthful. If that is the case then you should look at working in an equestrian environment because you just won’t be happy anywhere else. Even if competition riding is not your strength there are so many other areas in which you can work with horses and these days it is a truly global career.

Equestrian Sports worldwide involve many millions of horses and there are numerous opportunities to work with them for the true horse lover. Each of these careers, whether it be as a rider, or a specialist equine vet, stable hand, trainer, teacher, has it’s value and it’s place. Even the scientific research into equine care and feeding means you will be involved with horses. There are so many industries that are involved in the periphery of horse care and management there is bound to be something that is suitable for you.

Equestrian Sports are just one part of the horse world – how do you find which career is right for you amongst all those available. Research into those various career opportunities is something you should be prepared to spend time on to make sure you find your proper niche. If you are unhappy in the role you have chosen the horses in your care will sense it and they will be unhappy too which is not a good state of affairs. Whatever career you do settle on, you will certainly need training and appropriate qualifications that are recognized as valid within the industry.

Before embarking on the research you will need to do, you should ask yourself some questions to help identify the area of work that is suitable for you. For example, what do you really want from a career with horses. Is it to spend time with the animals, riding and caring for them, which is hard physical work. Or would you rather work in a more supportive role which is often pays better and is not such hard work has more regular ours but does not involve so much time with the horses themselves.

Your choice will be dictated to some extent by your level of education. If you need to go to College or University to study to become a Vet you will need more academic qualifications than you would need to become a stable hand. Both are equally rewarding jobs but they require different skills. Before undertaking any career in equestrian sports or caring for horses generally be sure you know what you are aiming for and what will make you happy – because then the horses in your care will be happy too.

Baseball World Series

By Payton Brooks

When people talk about the baseball World Series, the reality is that, unlike the Superbowl in football, they are not just talking about a single game. The baseball World Series is just that - a series of games that is meant to determine the best team in Major League Baseball at the end of the season.

Of course, the challenge for teams in Major League Baseball is that there isn't just one ultimate series that matters; when it comes to getting to the baseball World Series, the best team from the American League and the Best Team from the National League both need to earn their spots in the championship series.

In both the American League and the National League, throughout the season all of the teams are competing to establish a record that will help them to get closer to the baseball World Series. The top four teams of the American League compete to advance to the baseball World Series - the top team plays the wild card (fourth place) team, the second and third place teams play, competing in best of 5 series to determine which teams advance to another five game series meant to determine the American League champion team. The same breakdown happens among the National League teams.

Playoff season ultimately brings together the championship team of the National League and of the American League to compete for the "World Champions" title in the baseball World Series - a game that takes place at the end of October. This has been the structure since 1994, and the determination of whether the National League team or the American League team gains home field advantage is made during the All-Star game mid-season.

Of course, while this structure was adopted by Major League Baseball for the baseball World Series in 1994, the World Series was not held that year as there had been a strike. 1994, however, was not the only year in the history of the baseball World Series that did not see the championship games played. Since the baseball World Series was first played with a match-up of the National League Pittsburgh Pirates and the American League team from Boston in 1903, a number of series has been missed.

In 1904, the World Series was not played because of the assertion that American League teams, because they were new, were simply inferior. A champion was not crowned in 1919 because the Chicago White Sox team had made an effort to fix the outcome of the game. 1989 led to an abbreviated baseball World Series tournament as both teams were from the area of San Francisco and a major earthquake occurred and disrupted the championship.

For baseball fans, the baseball World Series games are among those that are most watched and most looked forward to. Those who are passionate about baseball are often going to watch the series whether or not their favorite teams are involved simply because the series is a match-up of the best of the best teams in the nation.

2010: World Cup Soccer in South Africa

By Payton Brooks

South Africa is not exactly one of those places where people plan a vacation and, therefore, with the 2010 World Cup Soccer tournament to take place in South Africa, a great deal is being done to help prepare for an onslaught of visitors to the area. World Cut Soccer is, on many levels, something like the Olympics and baseball's World Series rolled into one; teams from around the world are already counting down and competing with their eyes on the World Cup in 2010 and fans are already looking into learning more about places to stay and even driving rules in South Africa.

All of this - fans looking into lodging and travel, teams playing for a shot at making the tournament - is already taking place. Even with almost two years to go before the 2010 World Cup Soccer tournament in South Africa, the official web site is documenting the way that teams are playing and that features a countdown to the event (with well over 600 days to go). So far, there are two hundred teams that have entered into the competition; two hundred teams that are aiming to be one of the thirty-one teams that will compete.

Teams from Spain, England, France, Germany and Italy are all competing as representatives of European nations. Africa has a total of fifty-three teams that are working their way through the preliminaries, with Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Zambia, Swaziland, Togo and other nations participating. Asian nations that hope to be in thirty one teams who will compete for the 2010 World Cup Soccer title in South Africa include Korea, Iran and Saudi Arabia. New Zealand and Fiji are both vying for a position from Oceania.

On the other side of the globe, teams from North and Central America as well as the nations of the Caribbean are competing and preparing for a spot in the 2010 World Cup Soccer tournament in South Africa. So far, teams from the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago and Honduras are leading the way. From South America, thus far, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay have taken the lead.

While it is far too soon to tell which nations will ultimately be among the thirty one spots in the 2010 World Cup tournament finals in South Africa, one thing is sure: each of the preliminary matches is grabbing the interest of soccer fans worldwide - all of whom are hoping that their nation or their favorite team will ultimately be represented. Photos of matches are available online, match details have been made available and these are just the first steps: the 2010 World Cup in South Africa will also offer live streaming coverage of the matches that are played; likewise, some preliminary matches will be aired live online.

The road to the 2010 World Cup Soccer tournament in South Africa is still long and winding, however that does nothing to slow down the ways in which players and fans have planned to travel it to reach their destination.

Looking Forward to a New Season of the New England Patriots?

By Payton Brooks

There are folks out there who have strong feelings about the New England Patriots. Some of them love the team – they are still celebrating the Super bowl victories, thinking about the Adam Vinatieri game winning kick in a blizzard to secure a playoff win. Other people are way on the opposite end of the spectrum. Rather than thinking that the New England Patriots are one of the greatest teams out there, they've got a dozen reasons why the Pats are insignificant – most often, the item topping their list is going to be last season's spygate scandal.

Whether you love the New England Patriots or you wish they would drop out of the NFL altogether, one thing that you are going to discover quickly is that they're still a talking point. When it comes to football, when it comes to chatting things over at the water cooler come Monday morning at the office, the New England Patriots are going to come up.

On one hand, talk about the New England Patriots is going to be focused on Tom Brady – on his potential injuries, on whom he is dating and on whether or not he's played his best game. Others are going to be focusing on Bill Belichick and whether or not he is doing the best possible job as a coach – as well as focusing on the rest of the coaching staff of the New England Patriots. Others are going to be talking about passing yards, rushing plays, touchdown passes as well as those who came up against the offense and defense.

Ultimately, those who are watching the New England Patriots games – whether they are hoping that Brady and his team win or lose – are going to find that there's something unexpected each week. It may be a matter of waiting to see what the commentators have to say; it might be able looking into the plays that are being made and trying to determine whether or not the calls that were made were the right ones.

The NFL season has not yet begun – though it will happen soon enough – and yet fans of the game are already talking. After watching pre-season practice sessions, pre-season games and as newscasters start covering the stories on the evening news or in the local papers, the notion that the New England Patriots' season is about to begin is something that has a lot of people thinking about tailgating parties, about getting together with friends and about seeing what happens from one week to the next.

Whether you are looking forward to a new season played by the New England Patriots or other favorite teams or you just are looking forward to seeing what everybody else has to talk about, the football season is about to begin and, for many, that's the most exciting thing that's happened since, well, the Super bowl last February (though, perhaps for some New England Patriots fans, that's still a sore subject) – here's to a brand new season that's coming right around the corner.

How to Swing Your Golf Club

By Eric Raeder

Did you know that there are about 32,000 golf courses in the world, from which approximately 50% are in the United States alone? So, it's no secret that we Americans love golf!

If you are an avid golfer yourself, you probably already know that your golf score is almost wholly dependent on your swing, although there are others factors that count as well. You also need good hand-eye coordination, vision, balance, creativity, and athletic ability to play golf well.

Golf is one of the most challenging games played both in the mind and on the fairway. There are many tips that can be applied to improve your swing and game. Using simple ways will work better than complicated methods, hence stick to easy ways of improving your game.

Here are some easy and effective ways to improve your swing.

• Get the proper grip

• Have a correct stance

• Produce a perfect backswing

• Perfect your downswing

• Get a good follow through

Proper grip is very important for the right swing. There are different grips that you can apply:

1. For golfers with thick or short hands there is the interlocking grip; combine and interlock the left and right index finger.

2. Usually male players use the overlapping grip where the right little finger sits on top of the index finger of your left hand.

3. The baseball grip: (Mostly used by beginners) In this case, avoid overlapping the index finger of your left hand and little finger on the right hand, but make sure that there is some contact between the two.

The Correct stance is required for you to make the perfect swing. Make sure that your weight is equally balanced; stand relaxed over the ball. Tension can have a negative effect on the swing. Remember to keep your spine erect and not rounded.

Be slow and deliberate and avoid rushing it to get the perfect backswing. Keep your left arm as straight as possible while going back. Do not rush the backswing as the power of the shot is mostly generated here.

Begin the downswing from your hips and keep your head behind the ball. For the downswing, it is always advisable to use your right hand to generate more power. Again do not rush things and take your time; it is good to have a gradual increase in speed on the downswing along with proper balance.

Your head should come up with your right shoulder, and your chin must be over your right shoulder with your head facing the target. This will give you a good follow through.

Be very patient while learning these tips and you can also practice them without actually hitting the balls. Remember practice makes perfect so don't hesitate to get some in at every chance you get.

Relax and focus. Try these tips out for good results the next time you and your friends go for a game. Amaze them with your golf skills. Keep in mind that just like in life, learning never stops, even in golf. So, keep learning, keep practicing, and watch your golf scores take a plunge every time you hit the greens.

What Does Tom Brady’s Injury Mean for the Patriots?

By Payton Brooks

Throughout the pre-season, Tom Brady - the New England Patriots often MVP quarterback - was on the sidelines with an injury, that is if he accompanied his teammates to the games. All that Tom Brady has said about the injury is that it is a leg injury and that, while it is on the same leg as the ankle injury he played with during last year’s Superbowl, it is not an injury that he has struggled with in the past.

Of course, while Tom Brady did not play during the pre-season games and was not really involved in taking snaps at practice, he says that he is committed to being out on the field and playing alongside his teammates for the season. In other words, while it is clear that Tom Brady has an injury and he and the team have acknowledged that he has received treatment for that injury, it is also clear that the Patriots will be able to count on Brady as this year’s NFL season gets underway. After all, for the first time since the Patriots went to the Superbowl in 2005, Tom Brady has come off of the team’s injury reports.

Tom Brady fans as well as Patriots team fans are hoping that this is indicative that everything will go smoothly for the team throughout the season this year. Rather than worrying that Brady won’t hit the field as a starter and wondering what that would mean for the team, this week’s injury reports show that Tom Brady participated fully in practices throughout the week and that he is ready for his team’s season-opener.

Still, there is plenty of Tom Brady injury talk. On one hand, there are people who are concerned about the injury and how it will affect the team throughout the season. On the other, there has been speculation that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have played up the injury - in some cases, there have been blatant accusations that Tom Brady and his coach made up the injury - so that if Brady’s play is not as strong and consistent as it once was they will already have an excuse prepared; still others have said that the injury is being used as a cover because Tom Brady is no longer as invested in the game as he once was.

To hear Tom Brady tell it, his injury is minor, he is receiving treatment - and has been responding to that treatment well - and he is anxious to get back out on the field with his teammates. To hear those who are planning their fantasy football teams talk, it seems as though a great many people would be upset if the injury prevented Brady from playing during the season.

However, when you are looking at the big picture of a Tom Brady injury and how it may or may not impact the Patriots play as a team, the reality is that, while he is valuable, Tom Brady is not the only one who is out on the field. The Patriots are a team and they play as one.

A Look at the New York Giantsa

By Payton Brooks

Last year when the New York Giants faced the New England Patriots who had been, at that time, undefeated for the regular season and the post season, there were few people out there - other than die-hard New York Giants fans - who thought that Eli Manning and the rest of the team would be returning with the championship trophy.

New England fans thought that their team's ability to win the game was nothing short of a given and many joked that they did not even need to watch the game to anticipate the outcome.

Imagine their surprise, of course, when the New York Giants ended up winning the game. In the span of a few short hours during which the game was played, companies fought to air the best commercials and bands rocked the half-time show, Eli Manning proved himself to be following in his older brother's footsteps as a talented professional quarterback.

The New York Giants proved that they were prepared on both offense and defense and went on to show that they were the team of the night.

Of course, just because the New York Giants are the reigning champions of the NFL does not mean that they are shoe-ins to go back to the big game at the end of the new season.

The New York Giants did play in the first game of the 2008-2009 season and Thursday, September 4, 2008 - and in that game they defeated the Washington Redskins. Still, there are those who are fans of the New York Giants who are not ready to breathe a sigh of relief and to continue to believe in the season.

In part, this is due to the fact that the New York Giants scored all of their points in the game during the first half. While the team shut out the Redskins in that first half, the New York Giants were not able to hold them off completely.

This has led to some commentators believing that there could be challenges for this year's New York Giants team - as well as to a number of fans thinking that, against a better team than the Redskins, there may be challenges.

No season would be complete without some ups and downs; the reality is that the New York Giants are bound to have both wins and losses throughout the season. As time goes on, New York Giants fans, critics and sports commentators alike are going to have their say; they'll have both pride in the team and disappointments.

Those who are watching to see what Eli Manning will be able to do this season are likely to see him make some great throws and some that are disappointing as well.

It's all just a part of the game and of the NFL season. Still for those who are fans of the New York Giants, the way in which they are starting the season does bode well; those who are hoping for a repeat Superbowl performance will have to just wait and see.

Choosing a Saddle: Western Saddle or English Saddle?

By Susanne Malloy

For the most part there are two distinct types of popular saddles, English and western. In reality there are distinctions within these two groups, especially in the English saddles, plus there are endurance saddles and Australian saddle styles. The two general saddle styles of English and western are impossible to mistake, and are designed to best suit the particular demands of the different riding styles.

Western saddles have one basic style with many different shape and size variations within that general form. The western saddle is distinctive with a horn and high fork on the front of the saddle, a deep seat in the saddle and a low to high cantle making up the back of the seat. The western saddle also has a distinctive saddle skirt as well as wide and long stirrups and fenders, often which are very ornate and carved.

English saddles are much lighter than western saddles and tend to be more simplistic in style. They have a much flatter seat, no noticeable fork and no horn, with the front of the saddle being correctly known as the pommel. The cantle at the back of the seat is rather thin and may be low to high as with the western saddle. The sides of the saddle that replace the skirts and fenders are known as the flaps, and they are close to the horse's body. The stirrups are very minimal in styling with a thin stirrup leather connecting them to the saddle seat. English saddles vary from hunt seat, the most common pleasure type of English saddle to dressage saddles and show saddles. Dressage and show saddles must meet certain requirements to be used in competition. The Australian saddle and the endurance saddle are a combination of features of both the English and western styles. They are becoming more popular with both groups of riders as general work and practice saddles since they are durable, strong yet light weight and practical.

Regardless of what type of saddle you are buying it is important to make sure that it fits the horse correctly. Poorly fitting saddles will result in saddle sores for the horse and a dislike of being ridden. Generally measuring the widest part of the saddle area on the horse's back and ensuring the inside measurement of the saddle you are buying is at least this large will ensure a close fit, but it is always best to have the opportunity to try it on the horse. If you are buying a new saddle or a used saddle bring your horse or make sure it can be exchanged if it doesn't fit correctly. Experienced riders recommend that you should be able to place three fingers between the front of the saddle, the pommel, and the horse's back to ensure a proper fit. If the space is larger than this the saddle is too big, if it is less the saddle is too small.

If the cinch is to small or does not reach around the horse's girth, simply buy a longer cinch. This has nothing to do with the fit across the back, which is the area where the pressure from the rider can really cause problems with a poorly fitted saddle. Always examine your horse's back if he or she seems uncomfortable under the saddle and look for any areas of rubbing or irritation that can indicate the saddle is not correctly fitted.

Spain's Real Madrid Club De Futbol

By Payton Brooks

Ask people who aren't sports fans about Real Madrid and Spain and they are likely to make the assumption that you are looking for tourist information - places to grab a bite to eat as if you were a local. However, when you're talking with fans of football - or futbal or soccer if you are in the United States - when you bring up Spain's Real Madrid, they are going to know that you are talking about the Real Madrid Club de Futbol - a football club that got its start in Madrid in 1902.

Not only did Spain's Real Madrid get its start in 1902, but the soccer organization was a big part of the soccer organization FIFA. They were voted by the Federation Internationale de Football Association - though the organization has since disbanded and regrouped as the European Club Association - as the more successful soccer team of the twentieth century. In part, this is because Spain's Real Madrid has one 31 La Liga titles - a record for the league - along as nine European Cup titles, and seventeen Copa del Rey titles. The team holds a record for scoring 85 points in a single season.

Of course, the successes that they have had as a team show that Real Madrid is not just any other European soccer organization. Unlike most of the other futbal clubs in Europe, Spain's Real Madrid is and has always been owned and operated by the players of the club. Real Madrid has a large fan base, has many long-standing rivalries that lead to spirited matches. Of all of the clubs in the European soccer league, Spain's Real Madrid has the greatest revenue and, based on the revenue and standings, Real Madrid is considered to be among the most valuable teams in soccer.

Much of the revenue brought in by Spain's Real Madrid is the result of ticket sales at the team's home stadium - the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid. The stadium is estimated to seat, on average, 65,000 fans per game, and many of the seats are filled by season ticket holders. While this number is consistent, the reality is that attendance still swells when Real Madrid takes on their many rivals and top competitors including another of Spain's soccer teams, FC Barcelona.

Spain's Real Madrid team members are committed to their sport - something that shows through with the fans' enthusiasm, the number of titles that the team has achieved, games played within Spain and Europe and even on the world soccer circuit. In addition to players on Spain's real Madrid team, coaches and club presidents have shown a vast commitment to the sport and to the team - as, of course, have the fans throughout the years.

While those who take a simple look at the way Spain's Real Madrid has played during the past few years may not see the depths of their successes, the reality is that Real Madrid will go down as one of the most successful teams in futbol and looks to remain strong for years to come.

History of Inline Skates

By Nathan Hicks

Are you an inline skate or roller blade enthusiast? If you are using an inline skate manufactured by Rollerblade, Inc., then you may be called roller blading, but if you are using inline skates from other manufacturer, the term roller blading does not apply to you. You may be surprise to know that the word roller blade does not refer to the skate you use but Rollerblade is the company that is known to manufacture roller blades.

Rollerblade, Inc. used to be known as Chicago Roller Skate Company owned by Scott Olson and Brennan Olson. While they are not the original inventors of inline skates, the Olson brothers redesigned a pair of inline skates by using modern materials. They initially intended to create skates for ice skaters to use during practice.

Their design is similar to the inline skates we know today. This is the reason why roller blades is the name the public calls an inline skate. The redesign done by the Olson brothers to inline skates happen in 1979. While this is not the first known appearance of the inline skates in the history, this is very significant because from this point forward, rollers skates are already known as roller blades.

The first ever appearance of a roller skate, which is a boots with three wheels aligned with each other is in 1943. A London stage performance used this in a stage act. The creator of the first ever roller skate or inline skate is unknown. His name is not even mentioned in the dockets of history.

Seventeen years thereafter, John Joseph Merlin of Huys, Belgium used inline roller skates to promote his museum. There was a problem in his invention of a roller skate because he cannot stop when he needs to. Often, you will see him hitting mirrored wall.

Another significant entry in the history of inline skates is in 1818, when inline roller skates are used by ballet performance for their entrance. This use of roller skates is supposed to be for ice skating. However, because during this time, it is still impossible to produce ice on stage, thus the inline skate as used.

In 1823, Robert John Tyers of London patented Rolito. Rolito is a shoe or boot with five wheels in a single row. While this seems to be just like the inline skates we use today, Rolito cannot follow a curved path like the modern inline skates.

Another important timeline in the history of inline skates is in 1860, when an inventor from Madison, Connecticut developed Parlor Skates. Parlor Skate is the first roller skate that uses rubber or leather ring on the wheels to allow good grip to the ground.

There are many other changes in design that are done on the roller skates that paved the way to the Olson Brothers getting hold of them and redesigning it to the inline skates we know today.

The history of inline skates after the Olson brothers and their establishment of Rollerblade, Inc. have been colorful and led to many manufacturers creating variations of inline skates.

There was a slow down in the popularity of inline skates that happened in the 1990’s, inline skates reemerge in history through the aggressive skating discipline.

The history of inline skating likewise entered another entry in 2002 when the coach of Chien-Hao Wang requested for the redesign of inline skates to ensure better performance during inline figure skating events.

The history of inline skating is colorful and involves many personalities. However, even without knowing the ups and downs of the history, inline skating is good for recreational purposes. It may also be good for the health because some fitness gurus believe that inline skating may be comparable to jogging in helping ones self get fit.

Boarding Your Horse: What You Need to KNow

By Susanne Malloy

Unless you happen to live in a rural area, own a ranch or farm or have friends that do, you are likely going to have to stable or board your horse at a different location than where you live. The good think is that with so many people living in the city owning horses, there are typically professionally run and managed stables located within easy driving distance of most bigger towns and city. The cost of stabling or boarding your horse will vary on several factors including location, amenities and features offered by the stable.

The lowest cost stables will typically offer a box stall or a standard stall with a paddock or turn out pasture that the horse can have access to. Generally this turn out area will be for other horses as well, however you may be able to pay extra for a private pasture. As the owner you would be required to feed, water and exercise your horse as well as groom and provide all vaccinations and medical treatments. Keep in mind that if you provide your own feed you may also be charged a storage fee to have the hay or feed stored in the stable area. More costly stables may include heated box stalls, private paddocks or small pastures, feed and exercise services as well as on staff or on call farriers and vets. These deluxe stables may be cost prohibitive for many owners, but certainly provide the best care if the owner cannot tend to the horse every day.

If you travel a lot or can only ride occasionally, you may want to consider sharing your horse with another rider, splitting the cost of stabling, feed and care. This can be a wonderful option for your horse as he or she will get plenty of exercise and care from two loving owners. If you only ride during certain months due to business or school, leasing your horse to another person during the times you can't ride can help cover the stable costs plus keep your horse well ridden and cared for. Leasing doesn't transfer ownership of the horse and at the end of the lease the horse is returned to you.

If you are fortunate enough to live where you can keep your own horse and you have at least an acre of land, you can always build your own barn or even a lean-to that will provide shelter and safety for the horse. Under the best conditions the building should be fully sheltered and have a box stall, a straight stall and a separate and secure feed and tack room. Keeping the horse out of the feed is critical as overeating can cause colic and that can result in death.

The pasture or paddock area should be securely fenced with post and board fencing or special horse fencing, not barbed wire that can cause cuts or serious injuries if the horse's leg or foot becomes tangled in the wire. The fence and posts need to be well maintained and strongly constructed, with any damage to the fence repaired immediately.

The Basics of Horse Riding Tack

By Susanne Malloy

When you purchase a horse you may not be aware of all the additional expenses you will have before you actually get to take the horse out for a spin. Before making the plunge, be sure to price out the various types of tack and make a decision which style of riding you want to do and what type of tack is best. If you are on a budget or don't want to buy new tack right off the bat, a good option is to go to horse shows or even farm sales and buy used tack that has been well cared for and maintained. Another option is to buy locally from a tack or feed store, this option usually allows you to return tack that doesn't fit, but be sure to check the stores policy. If you know what you want, what size you need and all the particulars, buying online can be a good option as well. Returning items from online purchases can sometimes be costly as well as a hassle, so always read the return policy carefully before buying.

The most basic pieces of equipment you will need, especially to bring your new horse or yearling home is a halter and a lead rope. If you are buying a full grown horse you can select the halter you are going to use for many years, but if you are buying a young horse you will need to buy a foal or yearling halter and then buy bigger ones as the horse matures. Nylon halters and even leather halters aren't expensive as long as you don't get the ornate show halters.

Since you will want to ride your horse, you will need a saddle, saddle blanket or pad, bridle, bit and at least one set of reins, possibly two depending on the type of riding you wish to do. There are two different and broad categories of tack, English and western. English tack and western tack have similarities but are distinctively unique in appearance. English tack is smaller, with saddles that are minimal without a horn, high fork, deep seat or wide fenders on the stirrup leathers. Western saddles are the heavy saddles with a definite horn, deep seat and high, rigid cantle at the back. The fenders on the stirrups and the skirts on the saddle may be ornately carved or may have gold or silver accents. Within both English and western tack styles there are several variations, so it is important if you are interested in a particular event or competition that you find out what specific tack is required.

Bridles, bits and reins are all needed to control the horse, with differences again between English and western styles. English bridles tend to have more straps, including a noseband and a browband, while western bridles may or may not have these features. Bits for both English and western riding are typically snaffle bits, although the western style has an additional bar on the outside of the horse's mouth, known as a curb. These bits are sometimes referred to as a snaffle curb, which is different than a curb bit.

An optional piece of tack that you may wish to purchase if your horse is going to be kept outdoors or in an unheated area is a blanket. Turnout blankets are for use outdoors and have a water resistant exterior and a warm, padded interior. They strap close to the horse's body. Stable blankets are for use indoors and are less fitted to the horse and generally slightly lighter weight. Flysheets and covers can also be used in the summer.
