Uncle Obama Wants You. Namely, The Middle-Class Poor

By Professor Don Abrams

Grow From Middle-Class Poor to 'Zero Debt' to Rich in One Year

October 5, 2008 - NEW YORK, N.Y. Have you noticed how skinny and weak the average middle-class American looks lately? Nothing but skin and bone. It’s Barack Obama, not ‘Uncle Sam’, who is saying it's time to feed the poor guy so he can do his job.

The Illinois senator plans to “relieve the burden of the middle class”. Admirable. For a start he introduces the elimination of income tax for retirees making less than $50,000 a year. For many seniors, this will eliminate the need to hire a tax preparer, resulting in even larger savings.

But he forgot a huge portion of the middle class poor. Those who make over $50,000. Those who make between $50-90 thousand per year are in the most desperate need of a tax break. They pay for all these programs that they don't qualify for. Why the $50,000 per year cap?

A top-ten best-selling author of John Wiley & Sons is coming to the rescue...giving away his new book in protesting the plight of the middle-class poor.

Not only is he giving away a book, but a ‘flash of genius’ secret that enables the middle-class poor to be ‘zero debt’ and even be the nouveau riche in one year.

Combined with Obama’s solid start, it sounds good...which is NOT to say that it sounds too good to be true.

He is the author of the international best-seller, "The Profit-Taker: the Proven Rapid Money-Maker in Good and Bad Markets".

The Chicago Tribune says:"THE PROFIT-TAKER: SOLID ADVICE ON THE STOCK MARKET". The new free sequel reveals a proven strategy to grow rich - especially for late starters. It is a blueprint that awakens the self-actualizing quest to live long.

Do Abrams and Smarba have a solution? Yes! Unequivocally.

"We don’t have turkeys to hand out, but it has to start somewhere. We recognize the debt we owe for the thunderous acclaim of the first book. To that end, we wish to set an example by being credible and responsible to our book-buying public. We have a reader friendly offer as a remedy. We wish to give back. It makes good marketing sense. It’s good for the middle-class poor and for everyone."

So for the first time ever, the revolutionary and pre-published sequel to the international best-seller is being given away. Over seven years of work in its creation. Given away. Exactly so. Free! This follow-up, "The Profit-Taker Equalizer for the Underdog: Grow from Middle-Class Poor to ‘Zero Debt’ to Rich in One Year", is yours - with love.

During these troubled times of risky ventures and banking woes, the financial duo wish to follow Obama’s lead and unleash their refreshing, uplifting and unique concept...unencumbered by any cost to the reader, without any strings attached.

Simply click on www.profittaker.info and download the complete full-length manuscript copy of their ‘news breaking book’.

Barack Obama and the Perception of US in the World

By Gorazd Andrejc

Let me offer you a non-american perspective on this year's US election race between Barack Obama and John McCain. In this short article I want to explain to you - especially you, dear readers and friends from the US - why many Europeans such as me (and many other non-americans too) feel that Barack Obama would be a much better option for the US president than John McCain.

As I offer this perspective, I want you to have in mind that I have never lived in the US, I don't feel the economic problems of US personally (however interdependent the world has become, this has not influenced my life in any significant way yet), I am enjoying a universal health care (currently, in England) and I am not writing this particular piece out of my sympathy for many Americans who suffer problems because of bad US economy or the high costs of health care.

What I want to talk about is the image of US in the world and how electing Barack Obama would help to correct that image. It is very clear that, during the last decade, this image eroded to its lowest point (possibly in the whole history of US!) all over the world. America has never before been perceived in such an unfavorable light. Several American friends of mine have a hard time to even grasp how unloved their beloved country has become. Majority of the world has a grim picture of the US, said Steven Kull, director of the Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) when he was commenting the large international poll for BBC. "Negative feelings about Bush are high and are generalizing to the American people who re-elected him", worries Kull.

Of course, this perception is much worse in the Muslim world than in Europe, and it produces a deep motivation to fight against US and its allies. But I am not the only European who feels that the behavior of US leadership in last decade has been really bad and has made the world more dangerous place. Unwise moves and oil-hunger-driven wars, a great lack of understanding of the mindset of the people whom US operations were supposed to help (like Iraqis or Afgans etc.) and turning a blind eye towards the regimes like Saudi Arabian or Pakistani, who happen to suit America's interests - all this has undermined the fair amount of trust US have once enjoyed, also in Europe.

The situation has left the world hoping for a significant change in the White House. Those who speculate and make theories out of Barack Obama's middle name never seem to get it: this Muslim-sounding name could actually reduce the number of the terrorist threats to USA, although all "Muslim theories" about this name are complete nonsense. And another seemingly superficial thing is significant as well: If Barack Obama will become president, the color of the president's skin will speak to many around the world about the victory over racism in USA (whether it would be true or not).

Remember: public perception of the president (at home but very much so also around the world) is hugely important factor for the success of his country on many fronts, even if he makes mistakes. Kennedy was - at his beginning at least - very popular in Europe and around the World also because of his youth and charming personality. And there can be no serious discussion about public perceptions of Barack Obama vs. John McCain in the world: Barack is doing much better! Even in Israel , he "leads" the republican candidate by a big margin. This alone is hugely important even if Barack Obama's political program would be up for grabs. But it isn't.

Sarah Palin Borderline Baby Boomer

By Carol Stanley

According to some time charts Sarah Palin is at the tail end of being a baby boomer.

She doesn’t look like a baby boomer! She doesn’t act like a baby boomer! She doesn’t talk like a baby boomer. What do you think?

All of us in the baby boomer age range are dealing with many of the same challenges and issues. All of these challenges really start to percolate at about the age of fifty. Where did I put my keys? My waist grew an inch and I gained five pounds from eating nothing. The kids will be moving out soon? Should I start a new business? Should we sell our home? Lets check out our investments to be sure they are safe. Do we have enough money to live a very long time? Those are just a few of the questions we are asking ourselves. We are shedding our bullet proof vests at a rapid rate.

I would venture to say that Sarah is not looking for her keys, though she does drive her own car to work. She is probably pretty organized and her keys are more than likely in the same designated place. She appears to be in great shape and very trim. She is out jogging at all hours of the night, especially in summer where it stays light for many hours. Retirement is a word that is obviously not part of her vocabulary. She, like many baby boomers is thinking about going in a new direction. However her direction is not moving to smaller quarters. Her proposed VP mansion in DC will be large enough to keep her family from running into each other. Often when retiring, people move to warmer climate, or to be with their grown kids. Well, the climate will be warmer than Alaska and could actually be quite hot. And her kids are already with her.

I guess you might say that running for Vice President of the United States could be classified as a career change.

Her kids will be around for a long time, so the empty nest syndrome will not apply. In fact there will be at least one kid around for about eighteen years. There is also the issue of grown kids returning to the nest, and sometimes upon their return bring a little bundle of joy. That possibility lurks in her future. When does she have time to make lunches for her school age kids? Perhaps the older ones do the mundane tasks for the younger ones. It seems a miracle that anyone can govern a state, be a wife and mother, exercise, go

to PTA meetings and find a little time for sleep. I assume she cooks her own dinners, since she fired the cook. Or do you think they fast food it pretty often?

Perhaps we should ask Sarah Palin to join some of our boomer sites since she is pretty much borderline in age. She will be pretty busy the next few months campaigning so she may not have time to add comments and blogs on a daily basis.

Did she mention her views on birth control.? She advocates abstinence…however it did not work to well with her oldest daughter. We all know kids have a mind of their own and will do what suits them even if

mom is Governor of Alaska. Maybe if she had become Vice president before her daughter got pregnant she may have had second thoughts.

We are just going to have to wait for Sarah to fit into the boomer profile. She is just a few years off…so lets ask her to join us again in a few years.

None of the Above: Democrats and Republicans Say “Two’s Allowed, But Three’s a Crowd”

Did you know that unaffiliated voters are the fastest-growing voting bloc in America? In more than a few states, independents now outnumber both Republicans and Democrats, creating a huge swing vote that could determine the outcome of this year’s election.

Ross Perot ran the most successful independent campaign for president in U.S. history sixteen years ago. During his 1992 campaign, Perot was invited to participate in the televised presidential debates watched by almost 100 million people. On election day, he received nearly 20 million votes.

The major political parties were determined not to let this happen again. Before the 1996 election, the Republican/Democrat-controlled Commission on Presidential Debates concocted requirements to keep both independent and alternative party candidates out of the debates. As a result, Perot received less than 9 million votes that year.

How desperate were the established parties to prevent access to the debates and media by alternative party candidates and their supporters? One answer is shown in the following excerpt from my book, "The Perot Legacy: A New Political Path."

Donna Donovan, the national Reform Party communications chair, explained:

“When Ross Perot was excluded from the Presidential Debates, his Connecticut supporters decided to stage a ‘Demonstration for Democracy’ in Hartford, the state capital, while one of the three debates was taking place on October 6, 1996. Our goal was to create a big enough media event to bring attention to the stranglehold that the two major parties and their accomplice, the bipartisan Debate Commission, maintained on the debates….We planned to march through the city to the park a block from Bushnell Theatre where the debate was taking place….That night, nearly 700 people…converged on the park…where we encountered police, who immediately herded us into a ‘corral’ constructed of a snow fence in the center of the park….They marched in military formation, eventually surrounding us completely….

“Police officers on horseback formed another ring around the riot squad. Then, unbelievably, National Guard forces arrived with tanks and took their places in the street around the park…

“A freelance cameraman was shooting footage for C-SPAN, but days later we were told it was too dark to use. And what about the rest of the media? … We later heard from some that police and other security told them there was no one in the park, and since the direct-access streets were closed off, they assumed it was true.”

Because of a charismatic leader with access to millions of dollars, the presidential campaign of Ross Perot and the newly created Reform Party were perceived by the major party leaders as a threat to their established two-party system. Rather than viewing this event as an exercise in democracy and an expansion of choice, the party operatives did all they could to prevent the establishment of a third option.

Some of the other attempts to exterminate the Reform Party’s influence included misuse of ballot access laws, attempts to gain control of any federal election funds available to the Reform Party after the 1996 presidential election, and the use of a politicized judicial system.

In spite of it all:

* The Reform Party still survives today.

* A new issues organization (ICAN—Independent Citizen Action Network) is being established.

* The number of independent voters in the United States continues to grow dramatically.

* A tell-all book has now been published so that more people will know the facts, and can learn from our naïve mistakes while establishing new political organizations.

"The Perot Legacy" presents a model for a vehicle “that turns peoples’ anger into action.” The worst thing the American people can do is give up. Remember the quote by Winston Churchill that appears above the entrance to Ross Perot’s office complex: “Never Give In. Never, Never, Never.”

Don’t let the major parties shut out other voices in politics. This election year, please cast your votes for the strongest candidates, whether they belong to an established party, an alternative party, or are running as independent candidates.

Redemption for the Women's Movement?

For the past few decades the once proud women’s movement in America has been in significant decline. Their reputation hit rock bottom during the Clinton – Lewinsky scandal when they chose political expediency over protecting vulnerable women in the workplace from being exploited by powerful men. The lukewarm condemnation of the antics of Bill Clinton exposed the National Organization of Women (NOW) and others as little more than branch offices for the Democrat Party.

More recently these historical women’s organizations have turned a blind eye to the plight of women in the non-Western world. The basic human rights and freedoms that are taken for granted in our country are being systematically denied to women in vast areas of the developing and third world. Some of the worst abuses occur under Islamic Shari’a law. Instead of marches and rallies to demand the rights of their sisters abroad, the modern women’s movement seems to be taking an “I’ve got mine” attitude and have shown little interest in less fortunate women.

This may all be changing.

There is a new breed of feminist that has not lost its way and is demanding action. Lead by the intellectual author and teacher Camille Paglia and outspoken radio personality and author Tammy Bruce, the tide may be turning. These bright and articulate women are using their megaphones to call on all true feminists to return to their traditional role of promoting and protecting the rights of women everywhere.

Recently, Tammy Bruce joined us at a conference addressing the rise of Islamic states and spread of Shari’a law; and she spoke passionately on the plight of woman in the Muslim world. We were fortunate enough to get Tammy to share her views in a short but extremely powerful video. I would recommend you take two minutes and watch this important video by one of America’s new breed of women’s activists.

Some comments from Tammy Bruce:

I’ve found that the obviously right thing (such as assisting in the liberation of people) usually comes with the concomitant benefits—in this instance, remembering our own responsibilities and reawakening the voices and power of American women. The major difference with this 21st century effort, of course, is the authentically universal nature of the call for freedom and liberation. The so-called feminist movement rooted in the 60s was simply a co-option of that sentiment by leftists, which simply rode the back of the oppressed in its search for power, guaranteeing its ultimate abandonment of women and failure in general. Today’s silence of what is left of the American feminist establishment in the face of our extraordinary misogynistic Islamist enemy has been unforgivable.

Here we have a remarkable opportunity to, indeed, reawaken the power of American women, individually acting together as a voice of support and advocacy for women here and internationally. The mission is not complicated—remind the civilized world that the abuse, debasement, and murder of women is unacceptable, whether it be touted as ‘religious,’ a ‘private family matter’ or ‘cultural.’ The templates of understanding exist--oppression of people of color, as an example, is scorned worldwide as barbaric and tyrannical. South Africa reaped outrage from the world after what it had sown with the scourge of Apartheid.

We now face Apartheid of women, all in the name of religion. Just as South Africa’s racist oppression was couched as ‘cultural,’ the Islamist scourge of misogyny is touted as religious in significance. Perhaps in the uncivilized ancient world it was, but as slavery of Africans made way for the decency of the civilized world, so should oppression of women in the name of ‘religion.’

Our challenge is to not take for granted the gifts we have as Americans. American women have a special responsibility, indeed a duty, to use the power of our voices and influence to improve the quality of women’s lives, everywhere.
